WEEKEND PREVIEW - SEPT 30

Sep 27, 2023

This weekend see the start of the Hampshire Saturday Trophy which usually throws up some interesting and entertaining ties.

IT'S THE FA'S PLAY SAFE WEEKEND - MAKE SURE YOU PLAY YOUR PART!

Two of our Senior Division clubs were drawn against Isle of Wight opposition - Trophy holders Colden Common face an exacting trip over the Solent to face Vectis, but Whitehill & Bordon (pictured in red) won't be playing, as they already have been awarded their home tie against Binstead COB.

COMING-UP - FIXTURES

Three of our Division One sides face reserve sides: high-flying Whiteley Wanderers travel to Fawley, Lyndhurst face AFC Stoneham, who won the competition two seasons ago, and QK Southampton host Tadley Calleva. Overton United face a difficult away tie at reformed Southampton League side Tendown Athletic, and there are two all-Division One clashes as Headley face Upham and Broughton are at home to Michelmersh & Timsbury.

There are still plenty of league games to catch alongside - in the Senior Division, match of the day is at the Lumicon Arena as fourth-placed Infinity, on a good run of form, host second-placed Denmead.

Leaders Liphook United host sixth-placed Sway in what should also be a good game. Third-placed Locks Heath will be looking to get back on track after their first league loss, travelling to Bishops Waltham Dynamos (pictured, in green).

LEAGUE TABLES

Teams looking to catch up on the top four with what they may consider to be winnable home games are Harvest - seeking to improve after last week's heavy defeat at Sway - who face Paulsgrove, and Liss Athletic, who welcome Hayling United to Newman Collard. The bottom two are both at home, with Fleet Spurs playing Stockbridge and Hook hosting Moneyfields Reserves.

There are a couple of games in Division One too, with both Hedge End teams in action. Second-placed Town face a tricky trip to AFC Netley, fresh from their first league win of the season last week, and Rangers play high-scoring leaders Meon Milton at the Deer Park.
