The Hampshire Premier Football League are saddened to report that popular hard working secretary Paul Crocker passed away this morning following a short illness. His partner Jess and sons were with him. Our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult time. As mentioned, Paul was immensely popular with all clubs and committee members and liked to get out and about every Saturday watching a game in the league and compiling a match report for that weeks' Hog Post and threw himself head first into league business at all times. He was truly one of a kind. There will be a minutes silence at all HPFL matches this weekend and clubs at home Bank Holiday Monday and next midweek not at home Saturday are requested to also take part. In the short term whilst a replacement is found, member clubs are requested to contact the relevant league officer directly relating to their query with outside agencies asked to contact League Chairman, Tim de Trafford . RIP Paul

This weekend we have one cup game and almost a full complement of league games. We have the second semi final in the George Mason Memorial Shield , where bottom-four Senior division sides Meon Milton and Andover Town clash at the Cockleshell. The winners face BTC in the final. With Locks Heath v Hook at the top of the Senior Division off, the focus moves to their challengers. Second-placed Hedge End Rangers, six league wins in a row, could move level with Locks at the top if they win at home to Whitehill & Bordon, but they are seventh, and four league games unbeaten. Just behind the top three, fourth-placed Crofton Saints travel to improving Stockbridge, Bishops Waltham Dynamos will look to continue their long unbeaten run as they face Southsea Sports, and AFC Shirley host Broughton. Third-bottom Liphook United had a good win last weekend and will look for a repeat at home to mid-table Denmead, whose form is rather inconsistent. In Division One , the top three all won last week. This time, leaders Overton United travel to third-bottom Twentyten. They won there in the cup two weeks ago. AFC Netley, with games in hand, can still catch them and are at Rushmoor Community. There is a big game at the BTC Ground as third play fourth, BTC Southampton playing Whiteley Wanderers, both teams bang in form. Behind them, Fifth-placed Hedge End Town, who have only played three times this year, have a tough task at in-form Headley United, and Silchester Village, in sixth, host Hayling United. We have a battle of the bottom two at their shared venue at Cosham, Mob Albion playing Paulsgrove, who have drawn their last two. Mob won the reverse fixture 5-1 at the end of October, and they haven't had a league win since.

Almost a full progamme of league games to come this weekend, as we start to get to the business end of the season. In the Senior Division, the standout game sees leaders Locks Heath, who performed well at AFC Stoneham in midweek, travel to Crofton Saints, who are fourth, but with games in hand on the two teams above them. The two met in the Hampshire Saturday Trophy earlier in the season and Crofton were convincing winners. Hook could overtake current second-placed Hedge End Rangers, who don't have a game, if they win against bottom club Andover Town at home. Another big game sees Bishops Waltham Dynamos, in sixth after going ten league games unbeaten, entertain AFC Shirley, in fifth, but with games in hand on all above them. Moneyfields Res are still seventh but have lost three on the spin, they will look to get back on track with a home game against Liss Athletic, who have also lost their last three games. Further down the table an important game sees second-bottom Stockbridge play fourth-bottom Meon Milton, who have run into a bit of form recently. Another team in the bottom five, Southsea Sports, who have won their last two, host Whitehill & Bordon. Third-bottom Liphook United also need the points, and they play Broughton, who have only lost once in their six league games. In Division One, leaders Overton United are at home against Rushmoor Community, who are just above the bottom four. Closest challengers AFC Netley, six points behind Overton with two games in hand, have a tough trip to Nursling & Shirley, themselves within striking distance of the top five. BTC Southampton, in third, will play for the first time this month and are at home to third-bottom Twentyten. If they slip up, then fifth-placed Whiteley Wanderers could rise as high as third (although they have played more games compared to the others) if they beat second-bottom Mob Albion. Headley United aim to continue their great run as they host Sway, now fourth-bottom and without a win in five. Bottom club Paulsgrove picked up their first point in ages last weekend, and this time they play at Hayling United. The one cup game we do have sees Division One Silchester Village aim to reach the North Hants Intermediate Cup final as they host Laverstock & Ford Res. Overton reached the final last weekend.
