LEAGUE NEWS

10 December 2025
This weekend, again weather permitting, we have a mixture of cup games and league games. Most of the cup games are Hampshire Saturday Trophy ones that were postponed last week. Andover Town play Bournemouth Sports, doing well in the Dorset Premier League, there is an all-HPFL encounter as Senior Division Liphook United meet Hook, and there are three ties where HPFL sides play reserve/development teams: AFC Shirley host Petersfield Town Res, BTC Southampton host Folland Sports 'A' and AFC Netley travel to Eversley & California Res. We also have a League Cup quarter final as Southsea Sports entertain Locks Heath. In the Senior Division, leaders Crofton Saints look to continue their 100% record at their new home in Gosport as they face Liss Athletic, still fifth but on a run of three defeats. Both Denmead and Hedge End Rangers can overtake Liss if they win at home against Broughton and away at Moneyfields Res respectively. The Mead are currently one point ahead of Rangers. Whitehill & Bordon will be full of confidence after their win at IOW leaders Whitecroft & Barton last weekend as they travel to Meon Milton, who lost to Lyndhurst in the same competition. Second-bottom Stockbridge travel to Bishops Waltham Dynamos. In Division One, Overton United are now only top on goal difference after losing their 100% record to Hedge End Town last week. They host Rushmoor Community this time out so will need to bounce back. Hedge End Town, after that win, travel to Hayling United. Sixth-placed Nursling & Shirley host third-placed Silchester Village in a big game at the Hive. Four of the bottom five meet as Mob Albion play Sway, and Whiteley Wanderers host Paulsgrove (currently bottom).

Weather permitting, a lot of our clubs are competing in the Hampshire Saturday Trophy this weekend, there are a few league matches too. In the Hampshire Saturday Trophy, there is a large variety of opposition for our teams. The first three opponents we mention are formerly of our league. Hayling United host Fleet Spurs, now near the bottom of Thames Valley Div One. Meon Milton are at home to Lyndhurst, second in the Southampton League, having lost their last two. Andover Town have a home tie with Bournemouth Sports, doing well in the Dorset Premier League. Stockbridge host Hart United, second in the Surrey Intermediate (Western). Whitehill & Bordon probably have the hardest task, a a trip to the Island to face IOW leaders Whitecroft & Barton Sports - a battle of the W&Bs. Several teams play assorted reserve/development/'A' teams, which as we know are often unpredictable affairs. AFC Shirley are at home to Petersfield Town Reserves, BTC Southampton host Folland Sports 'A' of the Southampton League, Broughton travel to US Portsmouth Res, Twentyten travel to Ringwood Town Dev, and Southsea Sports host Fareham Town Dev. There are also two all-HPFL ties: Third-bottom Liphook United are at home to second-placed Hook, both in the Senior Division, and Division 1 Headley United play Hedge End Rangers of the Senior Division. In the Senior Division, Locks Heath could go third if they bounce back from two consecutive defeats and defeat Moneyfields Res at the Rec. Denmead could overtake Liss Athletic in fifth if they beat them at 32 Acres. In Division One, leaders Overton United face a stiff test of their 100% record as they travel to Hedge End Town, who are sixth, but have lost their last two games. Third-placed Silchester Village host Rushmoor Community; the reverse fixture was played last week and was a thrilling 4-3 win for Rushmoor. Fifth-placed Nursling & Shirley could rise a place or two if they win at home against Mob Albion. Paulsgrove could move off the bottom as they host Sway, who are are only four points above them, and who lost to the Grove in the reverse fixture last month.

Like last weekend, we have one League Cup match and otherwise a pretty full set of league fixtures. The cup match is between holders Crofton Saints, new leaders of the Senior Division, and fourth-placed Locks Heath, at Crofton's new home in Gosport. This will be Locks' sixth away game on the spin. In the Senior Division, the only team in the top four who are playing are AFC Shirley, who are at home to Southsea Sports. The teams just below them have some tricky away trips. Liss Athletic, in fifth, with one win in seven league and cup games, travel to Bishops Waltham Dynamos; Hedge End Rangers, in decent form. travel to Broughton; and Denmead, winless in five, travel to Meon Milton. At the other end of the table, bottom-placed Andover Town hope to continue their improved form with a home game against Moneyfields Res, and third bottom Liphook United are at mid-table Whitehill & Bordon. In Division One, leaders Overton United hope to notch their eleventh win in eleven games at home to Mob Albion, closest challengers AFC Netley host Headley United, who moved off the bottom last weekend. Silchester Village are now third and they have a tricky game at Rushmoor Community this time out. Sixth play fourth as BTC Southampton host Nursling & Shirley. After last Saturday's defeat to BTC, Hedge End Town, in fifth, will be looking to get back on track as they travel to Whiteley Wanderers, who celebrated their first win in a while last weekend. That win was over Sway, who host Twentyten in a bottom five clash. Last-placed Paulsgrove are at home to Hayling United, who suffered their first league defeat in five last Saturday.

Almost a full league programme this weekend - the only cup game is our uhlsport League Cup, an attractive one at Sholing where two top-six Senior Division clubs play each other, it's Hedge End Rangers v Liss Athletic. In the Senior Division new leaders Hook have a tricky trip to Bishops Waltham Dynamos. Crofton Saints are second and will hope to recover from their defeat at Hook last weekend as they travel to last-placed Andover Town, who are on the up having won their last three league and cup games. Third-placed Locks Heath have just played three away cup games in a row (all won) but they are back in league action this Saturday - again they must travel, this time to the team just below them, AFC Shirley, in a big game. The rest of the matches all offer opportunities for teams from the bottom half of the table to improve their position, and, with only six points separating eighth and fourteenth, all sides will need to be on top form, as the table could look very different on Saturday night. Stockbridge travel to Whitehill and Bordon, Liphook United travel to Moneyfields Reserves, Southsea Sports entertain Meon Milton, and Broughton are at home to Denmead. In Division One leaders Overton United will be looking to make it ten wins out of ten as they host third-bottom Paulsgrove. AFC Netley are level with them on points, but have played a game more, and have a difficult task this weekend as they play at Nursling & Shirley, who are third. Another notable game is at the NormRod as Hedge End Town, who have risen to fourth after a good run, play BTC Southampton, in sixth, who have games in hand as they haven't played a league game this month. Silchester Village, in fifth, travel to Twentyten, who have had some good results recently, and two teams in mid-table meet as Rushmoor Community play Hayling United, some contrasting form here as the hosts have picked uo one point from their last three league games, and the visitors are unbeaten in four in the league.

Again, we have a wide variety of cup and league games for this weekend, hopefully the weather will allow them to be played. Let's start with the league this time - in the Senior Division , the top two meet as Hook entertain Crofton Saints in what could be a cracking game. Hook are eight unbeaten in the league, Saints have scored 15 goals in their last three games. At the other end of the table, we also have a big game as second-last Stockbridge are at home to Liphook United, just one place above them. Liss Athletic are fifth and need to get back on track after losing at bottom club Andover Town last time out; this time they host Southsea Sports. Broughton have not won in four league games and are moving down the table - they are at home to Moneyfields Res, to whom they lost 0-4 last weekend. In Division One, leaders Overton United are back in action and are looking to continue their 100% record as they visit Rushmoor Community. Second placed AFC Netley are level on points with Overton and travel to second-bottom Whiteley. Third-placed Nursling & Shirley play bottom club Headley United. Paulsgrove moved off the bottom last weekend but face a difficult trip to Hedge End Town this time out. There is one Hampshire Saturday Trophy match still to play as Hedge End Rangers play AFC Dukes, who are somehow in this competition despite being based in Bracknell and playing in the East Berkshire League.

This weekend has a mixture of cup games and league games. In the Senior Division, leaders Locks Heath are in cup action, so any of the three teams below them could overtake them with wins: second-placed Crofton Saints are at home to Southsea Sports, Hook, in third, host Whitehill & Bordon, who had an excellent cup win last weekend, and AFC Shirley, in fourth, host Denmead, who seem to have lost their way recently after a good start. Liss Athletic, in fifth, have a trip to bottom club Andover Town, and Hedge End Rangers, fresh from their win over Locks last weekend, play at Bishops Waltham Dynamos. Two teams in lower mid-table face each other as Moneyfields Reserves host Broughton. FIXTURES In Division One we have four games planned: second-placed AFC Netley could draw level with leaders Overton United (who aren't playing) at the top if they win at Mob Albion. It's also fifth versus fourth as Hedge End Town, three wins in a row recently, host Nursling & Shirley. Both Sway and Twentyten are currently above the bottom three, but have played more games. Twentyten have a tough trip to Rushmoor Community and Sway host bottom team Paulsgrove. TABLES We have some more Hampshire Saturday Trophy games, with an interesting all-HPFL matchup at Silchester where the home team, going well in Division 1, host Meon Milton, mid-table in the Senior Division. All the other ties involve our teams against U23/reserve teams. The most notable one is BTC Southampton's trip to Tadley Calleva Res, who won this competition last season. CUP DRAWS Other ties include Eversley & California Res v Whiteley Wanderers, Romsey Town U23 v Hayling United, and Senior Division leaders Locks Heath's trip to face Liss Athletic Res. Another cup competition starting this weekend is the Aldershot Intermediate Cup; Liphook United are at Hartley Wintney Res.

Cup weekend is coming up - with the clocks having gone back, check kick-off times carefully! In the Hampshire Saturday Trophy , our teams are heavily involved, with an interesting variety of opposition. Thankfully there are no trips to the IOW for our teams this time, but we do have two home fixtures: Headley United have a tough task against West Wight, currently top of their league. Andover Town host Osborne Coburg in a battle of the two bottom teams in their respective divisions. Liss Athletic, who ran Wessex League Petersfield close in the cup in midweek, have an interesting match-up at home to Hart United, who won the Aldershot League with a 100% record last season, and who now top the Surrey County Intermediate League. FIXTURES Whitehill & Bordon also have an interesting one, against Bournemouth Electric, now doing well in the Dorset Premier League, and who have had several notable battles in this competition with our teams in the past. Sway have a tricky trip to Sporting Wessex of the Southampton League, who have already beaten BTC Southampton from our league this season. We have a number of our teams facing U23/Development sides, which as we've said before are often unknown quantities. Just to remind you, though, Tadley Reserves won this competition last year; they face BTC next week. Clanfield feature twice in our list of opposition: the Development team are at Broughton, and the Reserves host AFC Shirley, third in our Senior Division. Division One side, AFC Netley hope to continue their good form against Millbrook U23, this is being played at Oasis Mayfield. Other U23 sides involved are Romsey Town, at home to in-form Div One side Hayling United, and Lymington, who travel to Stockbridge. Reserve teams include Eversley & California, at home to Whiteley Wanderers, and AFC Portchester, at Twentyten. There are some all-HPFL matches, coincidentally all Senior Division v Division One teams, so the chance of an upset or two... Senior Division high-fliers Crofton Saints play their first game at Gosport, where they face Division 1 Mob Albion. A good game is in prospect at the Langstone, where Senior Division Southsea Sports host Div 1 leaders Overton United, who may fancy their chances, as may third-placed Division One team Silchester Village, who host Senior Division Meon Milton. TABLES Paulsgrove, bottom of Div 1, but who have done well in the cups so far, play Liphook United, third-bottom in the Senior Division, a team they beat on penalties in the League Cup earlier this season. Another interesting matchup is Nursling & Shirley, fourth in Div 1, at home to Hook, second in the Senior Division. We also have three league games scheduled: two attractive ones in the Senior Division as leaders Locks Heath host seventh-placed Hedge End Rangers, and Denmead could go fifth if they beat Bishops Waltham Dynamos. In Division One Hedge End Town could go fifth of they beat Rushmoor Community, who are only a point below them. Photo: Ian Grainger

Again, we have a full league scheduled for this coming weekend. Most of the Senior Division 's top five have games against teams from the bottom five. It's a top v bottom matchup as new leaders Locks Heath host Andover Town. Third-placed Crofton Saints will be looking to get back on track after last weekend's defeat as they travel to second-bottom Stockbridge, who got a good draw at Hedge End last week. Crofton Saints, in fourth, have a home game against third-bottom Liphook United. Fifth-placed Denmead are at Moneyfields Res. The exceptions are Hook, now in second, having played a couple of games more then the rest, who have an intriguing home game against in-form Hedge End Rangers, who are unbeaten in ten league and cup games, and fourth-last Southsea Sports, who play Whitehill & Bordon. Teams in midfield looking to climb the table face each other in the remaining games: Broughton play Bishops Waltham Dynamos, who are on a poor run, and Liss Athletic play Meon Milton. In Division One , leaders Overton United will be looking to make it eight out of eight as they host Twentyten, and AFC Netley, in second, on a run of four wins in a row, travel to second-bottom Headley United. Silchester Village lost at Overton last weekend and they play another top three team this time as they are at Nursling & Shirley. BTC Southampton lost at Netley last weekend and face a tricky task at improving Hayling United, who scored eight last time out. We have a bottom four clash as Sway play Whiteley Wanderers, who have one win all season, and bottom club Paulsgrove host Mob Albion, who are only four points above them having played two games more. Rushmoor Community are at home to Hedge End Town, both teams eyeing a top five place.
17 October 2025
After all the cup action recently, it's a full league programme this weekend and some interesting games coming up..... In the Senior Division, leaders AFC Shirley have a swift return to fourth-placed Hook, where they won on penalties in the League Cup last weekend, so they know a tough match is in prospect. Locks Heath are two points behind them with three games in hand and they also have a tricky task as they host fifth-placed Liss Athletic, now back to form after a rough patch. Denmead are sixth after a dip in form but they came through a difficult trip to Hedge End Town last weekend; however, they have no easier a task this time out at Bishops Waltham Dynamos. Hedge End Rangers are the team in form, seven wins in a row, scoring 32 goals on the way, and they have a home game against second-bottom Stockbridge to look forward to. Bottom club Andover Town beat Stockbridge 5-4 in the cup last weekend and they are at home again, this time against Moneyfields Res, who are only four places above them. An important bottom-four clash sees Liphook United host Southsea Sports, and there is a mid-table clash at the Daly as Whitehill and Bordon play Meon Milton. In Division One there is a big clash at Overton as the hosts put their 100% record to the test as they entertain Silchester Village, who are in third. It's also second v fourth as AFC Netley host BTC Southampton, both teams fresh from good cup wins. Nursling & Shirley have faltered recently after a good start and they will be looking to get back on track at home to Sway. Hedge End Town have games in hand and will be looking to start climbing the table as they host third-bottom Whiteley Wanderers. We have a bottom-four clash as Twentyten are at home to Headley United. Bottom club Paulsgrove travel to Rushmoor Community, and two sides who are currently in mid-table face each other as Mob Albion host Hayling United. Both had good cup wins last weekend.
