LEAGUE NEWS

Cup weekend is coming up - with the clocks having gone back, check kick-off times carefully! In the Hampshire Saturday Trophy , our teams are heavily involved, with an interesting variety of opposition. Thankfully there are no trips to the IOW for our teams this time, but we do have two home fixtures: Headley United have a tough task against West Wight, currently top of their league. Andover Town host Osborne Coburg in a battle of the two bottom teams in their respective divisions. Liss Athletic, who ran Wessex League Petersfield close in the cup in midweek, have an interesting match-up at home to Hart United, who won the Aldershot League with a 100% record last season, and who now top the Surrey County Intermediate League. FIXTURES Whitehill & Bordon also have an interesting one, against Bournemouth Electric, now doing well in the Dorset Premier League, and who have had several notable battles in this competition with our teams in the past. Sway have a tricky trip to Sporting Wessex of the Southampton League, who have already beaten BTC Southampton from our league this season. We have a number of our teams facing U23/Development sides, which as we've said before are often unknown quantities. Just to remind you, though, Tadley Reserves won this competition last year; they face BTC next week. Clanfield feature twice in our list of opposition: the Development team are at Broughton, and the Reserves host AFC Shirley, third in our Senior Division. Division One side, AFC Netley hope to continue their good form against Millbrook U23, this is being played at Oasis Mayfield. Other U23 sides involved are Romsey Town, at home to in-form Div One side Hayling United, and Lymington, who travel to Stockbridge. Reserve teams include Eversley & California, at home to Whiteley Wanderers, and AFC Portchester, at Twentyten. There are some all-HPFL matches, coincidentally all Senior Division v Division One teams, so the chance of an upset or two... Senior Division high-fliers Crofton Saints play their first game at Gosport, where they face Division 1 Mob Albion. A good game is in prospect at the Langstone, where Senior Division Southsea Sports host Div 1 leaders Overton United, who may fancy their chances, as may third-placed Division One team Silchester Village, who host Senior Division Meon Milton. TABLES Paulsgrove, bottom of Div 1, but who have done well in the cups so far, play Liphook United, third-bottom in the Senior Division, a team they beat on penalties in the League Cup earlier this season. Another interesting matchup is Nursling & Shirley, fourth in Div 1, at home to Hook, second in the Senior Division. We also have three league games scheduled: two attractive ones in the Senior Division as leaders Locks Heath host seventh-placed Hedge End Rangers, and Denmead could go fifth if they beat Bishops Waltham Dynamos. In Division One Hedge End Town could go fifth of they beat Rushmoor Community, who are only a point below them. Photo: Ian Grainger

Again, we have a full league scheduled for this coming weekend. Most of the Senior Division 's top five have games against teams from the bottom five. It's a top v bottom matchup as new leaders Locks Heath host Andover Town. Third-placed Crofton Saints will be looking to get back on track after last weekend's defeat as they travel to second-bottom Stockbridge, who got a good draw at Hedge End last week. Crofton Saints, in fourth, have a home game against third-bottom Liphook United. Fifth-placed Denmead are at Moneyfields Res. The exceptions are Hook, now in second, having played a couple of games more then the rest, who have an intriguing home game against in-form Hedge End Rangers, who are unbeaten in ten league and cup games, and fourth-last Southsea Sports, who play Whitehill & Bordon. Teams in midfield looking to climb the table face each other in the remaining games: Broughton play Bishops Waltham Dynamos, who are on a poor run, and Liss Athletic play Meon Milton. In Division One , leaders Overton United will be looking to make it eight out of eight as they host Twentyten, and AFC Netley, in second, on a run of four wins in a row, travel to second-bottom Headley United. Silchester Village lost at Overton last weekend and they play another top three team this time as they are at Nursling & Shirley. BTC Southampton lost at Netley last weekend and face a tricky task at improving Hayling United, who scored eight last time out. We have a bottom four clash as Sway play Whiteley Wanderers, who have one win all season, and bottom club Paulsgrove host Mob Albion, who are only four points above them having played two games more. Rushmoor Community are at home to Hedge End Town, both teams eyeing a top five place.

After all the cup action recently, it's a full league programme this weekend and some interesting games coming up..... In the Senior Division, leaders AFC Shirley have a swift return to fourth-placed Hook, where they won on penalties in the League Cup last weekend, so they know a tough match is in prospect. Locks Heath are two points behind them with three games in hand and they also have a tricky task as they host fifth-placed Liss Athletic, now back to form after a rough patch. Denmead are sixth after a dip in form but they came through a difficult trip to Hedge End Town last weekend; however, they have no easier a task this time out at Bishops Waltham Dynamos. Hedge End Rangers are the team in form, seven wins in a row, scoring 32 goals on the way, and they have a home game against second-bottom Stockbridge to look forward to. Bottom club Andover Town beat Stockbridge 5-4 in the cup last weekend and they are at home again, this time against Moneyfields Res, who are only four places above them. An important bottom-four clash sees Liphook United host Southsea Sports, and there is a mid-table clash at the Daly as Whitehill and Bordon play Meon Milton. In Division One there is a big clash at Overton as the hosts put their 100% record to the test as they entertain Silchester Village, who are in third. It's also second v fourth as AFC Netley host BTC Southampton, both teams fresh from good cup wins. Nursling & Shirley have faltered recently after a good start and they will be looking to get back on track at home to Sway. Hedge End Town have games in hand and will be looking to start climbing the table as they host third-bottom Whiteley Wanderers. We have a bottom-four clash as Twentyten are at home to Headley United. Bottom club Paulsgrove travel to Rushmoor Community, and two sides who are currently in mid-table face each other as Mob Albion host Hayling United. Both had good cup wins last weekend.

It's cup weekend again, as almost all our teams are involved in either the Hampshire Premier League Cup or the George Mason Memorial Shield. The draw has pitted many teams from the same division against each other, only a quarter of the games are where Division 1 teams play Senior division teams. The Hampshire Premier League Cup has reached the round 2 stage, and teams near the top of the Senior Division have some tough away draws against teams from the same division. Leaders AFC Shirley travel to fourth-placed Hook, second-placed Locks Heath are at Whitehill and Bordon, and third-placed Crofton Saints go to Broughton. Denmead, in sixth, are not in great forum and have a real test at Division 1 Hedge End Town. Paulsgrove have already beaten Southsea Sports on pens at the Langstone in the Portsmouth Senior Cup this season and travel there again. Sway host in-form Hedge End Rangers. There is also an attractive all-Division One tie as top five sides AFC Netley and Nursling & Shirley meet. The George Mason Memorial Shield is for teams who lost in the first round of the League Cup, and there are some good teams in it. There are two all-Senior Division ties - mid-table Meon Milton host third-bottom Liphook United, and the bottom two meet at the Portway as Andover Town play Stockbridge. Moneyfields Res were knocked out at Division One Overton last weekend, this time out they travel to BTC Southampton, who are fourth in that division. All-Division One matches see leaders Overton United at home to Twentyten, third-placed Silchester Village at Whiteley Wanderers, a mid-table clash between Mob Albion and Rushmoor Community, and a home game for improving Hayling United against second-bottom Headley United. Bishops Waltham Dynamos and Liss Athletic have byes. One other cup game sees a second attempt to play United Services Portsmouth Res v Bishops Waltham Dynamos in the Hampshire Senior Trophy - the HMS Temeraire pitch was unfit last weekend.

It's Hampshire Saturday Trophy weekend and many of our clubs are in action, quite a few with a long journey to undertake. There are several league games too. No less than four of our clubs are scheduled to make the expensive journey across the Solent to play Isle of Wight teams. The hardest trip is probably for Rushmoor Community, who are at Whitecroft & Barton Sports, regular winners of the IOW league and current unbeaten leaders. Shanklin have also done well in the IOW league recently, and they host Whitehill & Bordon. Teams currently in the lower half of the IOW table include Oakfield, who play Meon Milton, and Northwood St Johns, who play Headley United. Good luck to all our teams over there! We only have one team playing a Southampton League team this time; Stockbridge are not having a great time of it in our league, and have a tricky trip to play Dynamo Dockside. Two of our teams play reserve/U23 teams, who are a bit of an unknown quantity; Southsea Sports host Bashley U23, and Bishops Waltham Dynamos are at United Services Portsmouth Res. We also have three all-HPFL matchups, both Hedge End teams are at home, Town face last year's beaten finalists Crofton Saints at the NormRod, which should be a good one, and Rangers face Denmead. a battle of two top five sides in the Senior Division, at the Deer Park. Overton United, top of Div One, host Moneyfields Res, in the lower reaches of the Senior Division, and may fancy their chances. We also have three matches in the Senior Division ; Liphook United climbed out of the bottom two with a narrow win over last-placed Andover Town last weekend, this weekend see the reverse fixture at the Portway. Leaders AFC Shirley face a real test of their pedigree as they play at seventh-place Liss Athletic, and two teams currently mid-table who could go higher with a couple of good results play each other as Hook are at home to Broughton. Four games, too, in Division One ; a big game is due to take place in Romsey as third-placed AFC Netley host unbeaten second-placed Silchester Village. BTC Southampton, in fourth, will hope to continue their good start to the season as they host Mob Albion, who had that remarkable 7-3 win over Nursling & Shirley last week. Nursling & Shirley themselves will be looking to get back on track with a home game against Twentyten. Sway host Hayling United at the Jubilee Field. Finally, there is another cup match - one of the Portsmouth variety this time, as Paulsgrove, who have done well in the cups this season, host Senior Division Locks Heath at the KGV Cosham, always a competitive match.

Only league games this weekend, and a pretty full set of them, with some good matchups in prospect. In the Senior Division, new leaders Crofton Saints' unbeaten record is on the line as they travel to play third placed (with games in hand) Locks Heath in the match of the day. AFC Shirley, in second, also have a tricky task as they travel to Broughton. Denmead, in fourth, play their second game at their new ground at 32 Acres and it is another one against a team in form, opponents Hedge End Rangers have moved up to sixth on the back of four successive wins. FIXTURES Hook moved into fifth last weekend and have an attractive game against Meon Milton. Seventh-placed Whitehill & Bordon continued their good run, now five unbeaten, and they have another good-looking game at Bishops Waltham Dynamos, who will be looking to put their Southampton Cup loss behind them. Further down the table, the bottom two meet at Liphook where Andover Town are the visitors. Just above them, Stockbridge have a difficult game at Liss Athletic, and just above the Robins, Southsea Sports host Moneyfields Res. TABLES In Division One, leaders Overton United will be looking to extend their 100% record as they host Hedge End Town, which won't be easy. In second, and also unbeaten. Silchester Village host Paulsgrove, who gained their first league win last weekend after two good cup wins. AFC Netley suffered their first loss last time out and entertain Sway. Nursling & Shirley, in fourth, travel to Mob Albion. Headley United also got off the mark last Saturday with a good away win and are on the road again this weekend with a trip to BTC Southampton, who will be looking get back on track after their Southampton Cup defeat. Hayling United play Rushmoor Community, and two teams in the bottom five meet at Winklebury as Twentyten play Whiteley Wanderers. Photo: Ian Grainger

We have a mixture of league and cup games this weekend - plenty of league games in both divisions, plus five Southampton Senior Cup ties. In the Senior Division, leaders AFC Shirley are in cup action, so the teams below them will look to take advantage. Third-placed Crofton Saints, now the only team unbeaten, can take over at the top if they win their home game with Moneyfields Res. Fourth-placed Denmead, who lost for the first time in midweek, play their first game at their new home, 32 Acres, and face Whitehill and Bordon, who are on a four-match winning streak. Liss Athletic lost last time out at Shirley and will be looking to get back on track at home to Hedge End Rangers, who have won their last three, so an interesting game is in prospect. Third-bottom Liphook United, winless in six, face a difficult trip to Hook, and second-bottom Stockbridge also have a tricky task as they travel to Meon Milton. Bottom club Andover Town face Southsea Sports, only three places above them, at the Portway. Division One sees leaders Overton United bid to gain their fifth league win in a row as they host Hayling United, who gained their first win last weekend. Just behind them, AFC Netley, who have won their first three league games, travel to Paulsgrove, who may be winless in the league, but have just won two cup games on penalties against Senior Division teams. Unbeaten Silchester are fourth and have a home game against Mob Albion, who won their first league game of the season last weekend. Headley United are bottom, and have a tough-looking trip to Rushmoor Community, who are fifth. Hedge End Town have a home game against Twentyten. In the Southampton Senior Cup, we have a couple of all-HPFL ties; there is an attractive game at Broughton where the home team, in sixth place in the Senior Division, play leaders AFC Shirley. Two teams from opposite ends of Division One also play each other as Whiteley Wanderers host Nursling & Shirley. The other ties involve HPFL teams against Southampton League Premier sides; at Priory Park, Bishops Waltham Dynamos v Fordingbridge Turks could be a good one; Locks Heath, fresh from a midweek win over Denmead to go second in the Senior Division, travel to Bournemouth to play Select Generation, a football academy with a lot of young international players; and BTC Southampton are at home to Sporting Wessex

After our League Cup weekend last Saturday, we are mainly back to league games this time around, with a couple of Portsmouth Senior Cup games thrown in. They involve a big game between two of the top three teams in the Senior Division, Locks Heath hosting unbeaten Denmead. The two teams meet again in the league next Tuesday. Southsea Sports also host Paulsgrove, conquerors of Liphook United last weekend. FIXTURES In the Senior Division, AFC Shirley moved into top spot in midweek and host fifth-placed Liss Athletic in what should be a game worth watching. Crofton Saints, in fourth and still unbeaten, are at home to Bishops Waltham Dynamos in another attractive matchup. Meon Milton had a great win at Wessex One Clanfield in midweek and now have a tough trip to Broughton, who are adapting well to life at this level. Bottom club Andover Town are at Sholing to face Hedge End Rangers, who have had two good wins in their first week at their new home. Just above Andover are Stockbridge, who are at home to Whitehill & Bordon, who have won their last three games. Hook host Moneyfields Res, having beaten them 5-0 in the cup last weekend. TABLES In Division One, the top two meet again at Overton Rec where the home team host Nursling & Shirley, having lost to them in the League Cup last Saturday. The other teams with a 100% record, AFC Netley, play Hedge End Town. At Romsey in another big game. Silchester Village are unbeaten and are at home to Headley United, who have conceded 19 goals in their three league and cup games so far. Hayling United have yet to pick up a point from their two league games and are at home to Sway. Twentyten meet Mob Albion, who narrowly lost to US Portsmouth on Tuesday, and Whiteley Wanderers travel to Rushmoor Community. Photo: Ian Grainger

After a busy Bank Holiday weekend, we have a pretty full set of league fixtures coming up before the cup games kick in at the start of next month. In the Senior Division , leaders Locks Heath, the only team with a 100% record, have a home clash with Whitehill & Bordon, who had a good win at Broughton last time out. This is due to be played at 1400 at KGV Cosham. FIXTURES Crofton Saints are second and still unbeaten, they host Hedge End Rangers. Denmead are also still unbeaten and didn't play last weekend; they host bottom club Andover Town who have lost all their games so far, but made it hard for AFC Shirley in their last game. Talking of Shirley, they went into fourth with that win, and have an attractive home clash with sixth-placed Bishops Waltham Dynamos this time out. We have our first A3 derby of the season as Liphook United bid to end a run of three successive defeats when they host fifth-placed Liss Athletic. We have a meeting at the Cockleshell of two mid-table teams who have already shown promise this season so are looking to move up the table as Meon Milton play Hook. TABLES Two teams looking to get back on track after recent defeats meet at Broughton as the home side entertain Southsea Sports, and two teams near the bottom play each other as Moneyfields Res are at home to Stockbridge. In Division One we have only two teams with 100% records, they are both on their travels this weekend - Overton United are at Headley United and Nursling & Shirley are at Whiteley Wanderers. Sway are also undefeated after two games and they host Rushmoor Community. Paulsgrove have lost their two opening games and they travel to BTC Southampton in an interesting match-up - there were two divisions between the teams last season. Hedge End Town are in action for the first time this season and they host Mob Albion. AFC Netley are at home to Twentyten, who had an excellent win at Hayling United last time out.
