LEAGUE NEWS

This weekend we have one cup game and almost a full complement of league games. We have the second semi final in the George Mason Memorial Shield , where bottom-four Senior division sides Meon Milton and Andover Town clash at the Cockleshell. The winners face BTC in the final. With Locks Heath v Hook at the top of the Senior Division off, the focus moves to their challengers. Second-placed Hedge End Rangers, six league wins in a row, could move level with Locks at the top if they win at home to Whitehill & Bordon, but they are seventh, and four league games unbeaten. Just behind the top three, fourth-placed Crofton Saints travel to improving Stockbridge, Bishops Waltham Dynamos will look to continue their long unbeaten run as they face Southsea Sports, and AFC Shirley host Broughton. Third-bottom Liphook United had a good win last weekend and will look for a repeat at home to mid-table Denmead, whose form is rather inconsistent. In Division One , the top three all won last week. This time, leaders Overton United travel to third-bottom Twentyten. They won there in the cup two weeks ago. AFC Netley, with games in hand, can still catch them and are at Rushmoor Community. There is a big game at the BTC Ground as third play fourth, BTC Southampton playing Whiteley Wanderers, both teams bang in form. Behind them, Fifth-placed Hedge End Town, who have only played three times this year, have a tough task at in-form Headley United, and Silchester Village, in sixth, host Hayling United. We have a battle of the bottom two at their shared venue at Cosham, Mob Albion playing Paulsgrove, who have drawn their last two. Mob won the reverse fixture 5-1 at the end of October, and they haven't had a league win since.

Almost a full progamme of league games to come this weekend, as we start to get to the business end of the season. In the Senior Division, the standout game sees leaders Locks Heath, who performed well at AFC Stoneham in midweek, travel to Crofton Saints, who are fourth, but with games in hand on the two teams above them. The two met in the Hampshire Saturday Trophy earlier in the season and Crofton were convincing winners. Hook could overtake current second-placed Hedge End Rangers, who don't have a game, if they win against bottom club Andover Town at home. Another big game sees Bishops Waltham Dynamos, in sixth after going ten league games unbeaten, entertain AFC Shirley, in fifth, but with games in hand on all above them. Moneyfields Res are still seventh but have lost three on the spin, they will look to get back on track with a home game against Liss Athletic, who have also lost their last three games. Further down the table an important game sees second-bottom Stockbridge play fourth-bottom Meon Milton, who have run into a bit of form recently. Another team in the bottom five, Southsea Sports, who have won their last two, host Whitehill & Bordon. Third-bottom Liphook United also need the points, and they play Broughton, who have only lost once in their six league games. In Division One, leaders Overton United are at home against Rushmoor Community, who are just above the bottom four. Closest challengers AFC Netley, six points behind Overton with two games in hand, have a tough trip to Nursling & Shirley, themselves within striking distance of the top five. BTC Southampton, in third, will play for the first time this month and are at home to third-bottom Twentyten. If they slip up, then fifth-placed Whiteley Wanderers could rise as high as third (although they have played more games compared to the others) if they beat second-bottom Mob Albion. Headley United aim to continue their great run as they host Sway, now fourth-bottom and without a win in five. Bottom club Paulsgrove picked up their first point in ages last weekend, and this time they play at Hayling United. The one cup game we do have sees Division One Silchester Village aim to reach the North Hants Intermediate Cup final as they host Laverstock & Ford Res. Overton reached the final last weekend.

Improved weather, and a busy weekend, mainly league games, with a couple of important cup games thrown in for good measure. Our sole remaining representative in the Hampshire Saturday Trophy , Crofton Saints, play their semi-final this weekend, they have a trip to Surrey Intermediate side Hart United, who have already eliminated two HPFL sides. In the Senior Division, leaders Locks Heath are now four points clear with games in hand, and they have a home game this Saturday against second-bottom Liphook United. With second-placed Crofton in cup action, the two sides level with them on points could overtake them with wins; Hook are at home to Bishops Waltham Dynamos, who are unbeaten in ten league games, and Hedge End Rangers host Liss Athletic, who haven't played for the last two weeks. Also not out of the race, in fifth and with games in hand, is AFC Shirley, and they host third-bottom Stockbridge, who will be on a high after a great cup win at Romsey on Thursday. Level with them on points are Moneyfields Res, who will be looking to get back on track after two successive home defeats; they travel to Meon Milton who ended a poor run with a great win at Crofton last weekend. Southsea Sports also had a great win last weekend and will look to build on that with a win against bottom side Andover Town. Two teams in mid-table face each other at the Daly as Whitehill & Bordon play Broughton. In Division One, with leaders Overton in cup action, second-placed AFC Netley have an opportunity to reduce the gap at the top with a win at Sway, who are now fourth-bottom after one point from the last four games. Hedge End Town could go third with a win at bottom club Paulsgrove. It's sixth v fifth at the Oasis as Whiteley Wanderers host Silchester Village. Nursling & Shirley have games in hand on those above but have lost last three of their last four; they travel to Rushmoor Community, who ended a poor run with a win last Saturday. There is also a bottom-five clash as in-form Headley United could move into mid-table if they beat Mob Albion. We also have an all-Division One game in the North Hants Intermediate Cup when leaders Overton United face a trip to Twentyten.

If the weather is kind this weekend then we have two important cup matches, in addition to several league games. Our own cup competitions reach the semi-final stage, and one in each competition is scheduled for this weekend. In the uhlsport League Cup , we have a clash between top five sides in the Senior Division as AFC Shirley entertain in-form Hedge End Rangers. In the George Mason Memorial Shield it's an all-Division 1 matchup as third-top BTC Southampton play second-bottom Mob Albion. In the Senior Division , Locks Heath are still ahead but only by one point (although they have games in hand). After another great performance against a Wessex team in midweek, they have a difficult trip this weekend to one of the clubs chasing them, Hook. Another chasing club, Crofton Saints, have a home game against fourth bottom Meon Milton. At the other end of the table, last-placed Andover Town host Bishops Waltham Dynamos, who are mid-table, but with games in hand, are looking up the table rather than down. Third-bottom Stockbridge host unpredictable Denmead A local matchup at the JJ sees Moneyfields Reserves play Southsea Sports, with the promise of a top five place for the home side if they win. Division One sees leaders Overton United visit Sway, whom they beat 1-0 at home a month ago. Closest challengers AFC Netley, with games in hand, are at fourth-placed Hedge End Town in what promises to be a cracker. It's seventh v fifth as Nursling & Shirley are at home to Silchester Village. In between them are Whiteley Wanderers, who will look to continue their good form at Hayling United, who are also on the way up again, having won their last two. A bottom-four clash sees Headley United, in decent form, entertain Twentyten. In the Aldershot Intermediate Cup there is a local derby when Senior Division clubs Liphook United and Whitehill & Bordon meet.

Again, weather permitting, we have one cup game and a pretty full set of league fixtures scheduled. The cup game is the Hampshire Saturday Trophy quarter-final between AFC Shirley and Surrey Intermediate team Hart United, which was postponed last Saturday. There is a big match in the Senior Division at the JJ as Moneyfields Res, who have risen to fourth after a great recent run, host leaders Locks Heath. Second-placed Crofton Saints host Whitehill and Bordon, who had a good derby win last weekend, but who lost 3-0 to Crofton in the Hants Saturday Trophy a couple of weeks ago. FIXTURES Hook and Hedge End Rangers are now level in fifth; Hook host Liss Athletic, who are still seventh, but have only won one of their last nine games. Fifth-placed Silchester Village are at home to third-bottom Twentyten. 6 February 2026
With little end in prospect to the dreadful weather, which allowed only four games involving our teams last weekend, we hope for better luck this time. If all goes well, then we have one cup game, pius an almost full league programme to look forward to. The cup game is the other Hampshire Saturday Trophy involving our teams, which sees AFC Shirley host Surrey Intermediate (Western) club Hart United, who were reinstated in the competition at the expense of Hedge End Rangers. The Senior Division sees leaders Locks Heath with a home game against Southsea Sports, who had a good win over Shirley last time out. Two points behind Locks are Crofton Saints, semi-finalists in the Hampshire Saturday Trophy again, who face a tricky trip to Broughton, who are on a run of four unbeaten in league and cup. FIXTURES Hook, in fifth, can threaten the top two if they win at home to third-bottom Stockbridge. Behind them, three points separate the next five clubs. Four of those play each other; at Sholing, in-form Hedge End Rangers host Denmead, who have been inconsistent of late, and at the Daly, Whitehill & Bordon are at home to Liss Athletic. Further down the table, there is a bottom-four clash as last-placed Andover Town host Meon Milton, neither team in great form. Liphook United are second bottom and travel to mid-table Bishops Waltham Dynamos. TABLES In Division One, Overton United opened up a three-point lead at the top due last weekend, as they won and AFC Netley were in the cup, and this time out they have a trip to Hayling United, who are now in the bottom five, albeit with games on hand on some of those above. Netley host Rushmoor Community, who have lost their last three. It's third versus fifth as Hedge End Town travel to Silchester Village. BTC Southampton are in fourth, with games in hand and four clean sheets in a row, and they travel to last-placed Paulsgrove this Saturday. Whiteley Wanderers, a team in form, who have now risen to sixth after scoring eight last Saturday, travel to Headley United, who are also on the rise after doing the double over Paulsgrove recently. Nursling & Shirley also have games in hand and will be looking to catch up on the top six with a win at home to Mob Albion, whose poor run continues, although they ran Whiteley close last time out. Twentyten will be looking to get back to form after conceding thirteen in their last two games, this time they host Sway, who are mid-table after a good recent run.

In the Senior Division, leaders Locks Heath are in action at Liss Athletic, who ended their poor run last Saturday and remain in seventh place. Again a weekend of some important cup games and a fair number of league games scheduled. However, there are a lot of wet pitches around. The Hampshire Saturday Trophy sees yet another attempt to play the match between Folland Sports 'A' and Andover Town. The uhlsport League Cup has a big game as Crofton Saints, second in the Senior Division, host AFC Netley, second in Division One. The George Mason Memorial Trophy sees an all-Division One clash, as third-placed BTC Southampton are at home to Twentyten. In the Senior Division leaders Locks Heath have a tricky trip to Denmead, who sit in seventh. AFC Shirley could go second if they win at Southsea Sports. Moneyfields Reserves could go fourth if they continue their excellent run; they entertain Whitehill & Bordon at the JJ. With bottom club Andover Town in cup action, the three teams just above them could widen the gap further with good results this weekend, and all three are separated by just one point. They all play sides who are in mid-table: second-bottom Liphook United are at Bishops Waltham Dynamos, Stockbridge travel to Broughton, and Meon Milton are at home to Liss Athletic. In Division One, leaders Overton United could go clear at the top with a result at home to Sway, who are in good form, having moved into sixth by winning four out of five. Fourth play fifth at the NormRod with Hedge End Town hosting Silchester Village, the winner will go third. Lower down the table, the bottom two meet again with this time Headley United the home team this time against last-placed Paulsgrove, having won 3-1 there last weekend. Just above them, Mob Albion have a difficult task against Whiteley Wanderers, who have won four out of their last five. Hayling United have lost their last four league games and have a trip to Nursling & Shirley, who have only played three times since the end of November and lost them all.
