WEEKEND PREVIEW - 2 MAY

1 May 2026

We have a busy Bank Holiday weekend of matches in both divisions. Although both champions are known, there is still a lot to play for in both leagues.

In the Senior Division, champions Locks Heath have two tricky trips planned for the weekend - at Liss Athletic on Saturday, and at Bishops Waltham Dynamos on Monday. Second-placed Hedge End Rangers finish their programme, which could be their last match in the HPFL, as they are hoping for promotion to the Wessex, with a home game against Moneyfields Res, a replay of the one abandoned due to localised fog earlier in the season.

If Rangers win, they will clinch second spot, but if they slip up, they can still be overtaken by either Crofton Saints, in third, or by AFC Shirley, who are in fourth, and on a run of five wins in a row. Intriguingly, these two meet on Saturday. at Mansel Park. On Monday Shirley host Southsea Sports, and Crofton travel to Broughton. Midweek results mean that Hook now have a top five spot; they are at Southsea on Saturday.

On Saturday there is a bottom five clash as Meon Milton will be looking to build on their good win in midweek when they host third-bottom Liphook United. A point for Liphook would mean they are officially clear of the bottom two. The bottom two meet on Saturday, Stockbridge host Andover Town knowing that a draw will confirm the visitors in last place. Both are also in action on Monday; Stockbridge are at home to Moneyfields Res and Andover travel to Liss..

In Division One, champions AFC Netley conclude their programme this weekend with two home games against the bottom two; Paulsgrove on Saturday, Mob Albion on Monday. Third-placed BTC Southampton also have two home games over the weekend against opposition in the bottom half of the table (Sway on Saturday, Hayling United on Monday) and can clinch third spot if they gain two points from those games.

The battle for the remaining top five places continues to be close and Silchester Village, who play at Mob Albion on Saturday, and Nursling & Shirley, at home to Hedge End Town on Monday, can pretty much wrap up a top five spot with wins.

Please check Full Time and clubs' social media if you are planning to attend a game!

The Hog Post will be delayed so that the long weekend's games are all covered, so it will probably appear on Tue/Wed next week.
