WEEKEND PREVIEW - OCTOBER 5
It's the first round of the Hampshire Senior Trophy this weekend, and a lot of our Division One teams are involved, some against non-HPFL opposition, which is always interesting. We do not appear to have any games against IOW teams in this round.
We have one all-Senior Division clash, which sees Meon Milton at home to Bishops Waltham Dynamos.
There is one Division One v Senior Division game, and it looks like a tough one for Hayling United, winless so far, as they host high-flying Hedge End Rangers.
Two of our teams have home draws against the top two Southampton League sides, which could be interesting: Whitehill & Bordon play Dynamo Dockside, and Silchester Village play Braishfield.
There are also three HPFL v Aldershot League matchups: Whiteley Wanderers travel to Four Marks, who used to be in our League; Headley United play Rushmoor Community Select (not the RC first team); and Overton United are at home to Woking United Sports Club.
Finally, four of our teams play Wessex League reserve teams, always hard to predict: Sway travel to Millbrook Res, Broughton aim to continue their great start to the season as they host Lymington Res, AFC Netley go to Tadley Res, and Twentyten are at home to AFC Stoneham Res, past winners of this competition.
In the Senior Division, five games are scheduled, with new leaders Locks Heath hosting a big game as they host in-form Liss Athletic, who knocked Colden Common off the top last weekend.
Common themselves have a tricky-looking trip to Hook. Third-placed Liphook United taking on Stockbridge, who are fourth after having won their last three, is another potential cracker. Fifth-placed Andover Town will be looking to make it six wins in a row as they host out-of-form Denmead. And there is a clash of two teams in the bottom three at KGV Cosham as Paulsgrove play Harvest.
There are two Division One games; the first one, at the NormRod, should be one to watch as Hedge End Town - our Hampshire Senior Trophy holders - who have moved up to fifth, host second placed Crofton Saints. Bottom club QK Southampton will be looking for points from their home game against Mob Albion.
