WEEKEND PREVIEW - OCTOBER 12

10 October 2024

This weekend sees a mixture of league and cup games for our teams.

The Senior Division sees a battle of the top two as Locks Heath are at home to Liphook United. Colden Common are just behind them and could take advantage if they win at Bishops Waltham Dynamos. Andover Town are in fifth but are on the up after six league wins in a row and they travel to third-bottom Moneyfields Res - Moneys under new manager of former Infinity boss, Rich Bessey.

RESULTS

Stockbridge are just ahead of them in fourth on goal difference and have a tough-looking home game against Meon Milton. Bottom club Paulsgrove travel to Hook, who had a good win against Common last time out, and Harvest travel to second-last Sway having won at the Grove last weekend to move out of the bottom places.

In the cups, Hedge End Rangers host BTC Southampton in the Southampton Senior Cup, Denmead travel to Division One Whiteley Wanderers in the Portsmouth Senior Cup, and there are two Aldershot cup games involving Whitehill & Bordon; their first team travel to Wey Valley of the Aldershot & District League, whereas their development team travel to our own Liss Athletic, who are in great form with four successive wins.

TABLES

In Division One, Crofton Saints, in second, will be looking to bounce back from last week's defeat and close the gap on leaders Broughton, who are in cup action. They have a home game against AFC Netley, who have lost their last eight league and cup games, conceding a fair few goals in the process. Only two points behind Crofton are Upham, who travel to Mob Albion, and Overton United, who host Silchester Village.

Neither game will be easy against promoted clubs. The bottom two meet at Front Lawn as last-placed club Hayling United look for their first win against Twentyten, who conceded double figures last weekend in the HST. Two teams looking to challenge the top five meet as Rushmoor Community play Headley United.

FIXTURES

In the Southampton Senior Cup, Broughton look to extend their great run with a home game against Southampton League Dynamo Dockside, who lost at Whitehill & Bordon last weekend, and Hedge End Town host Southampton League Comrades.
