WEEKEND PREVIEW - OCTOBER 19

17 October 2024

This coming weekend is devoted to our own cup competitions.

Colden Common and Rushmoor Community have byes, otherwise all teams are in action.

The uhlsport League Cup is at the second round stage, with several ties between Senior Division and Division One sides, none bigger than another episode of El Hedgio at the Norman Rodaway. Hedge End Rangers will not be taking neighbours Town (who won the GMMS last season) lightly, both teams are doing well in their respective leagues. Another intriguing one is at Seafield Park where Crofton Saints host Meon Milton, again both sides doing well.

FIXTURES

In-form Upham, going well in Division One, are at home to Whitehill & Bordon, another one which could be a close one to call. Senior Division Liphook and Harvest have home advantage against Division One clubs, Mob Albion and Silchester, respectively.

There is also one all-Senior Division match where Hook, who are doing well this season, are at home to Moneyfields Res, and one all-Division One clash, where all-conquering Broughton host last-placed Twentyten.

TABLES

In the George Mason Memorial Shield, designed for clubs knocked out in the first round of the League Cup, we are at the first round stage.

There are two all-Senior Division clashes, one definitely worth watching here is leaders Locks Heath, winners at Clanfield in midweek in the Russell Cotes, taking on Andover Town, who have risen to third on the back of seven league wins in a row. Stockbridge are at home to bottom side Paulsgrove.

RESULTS

There are four Senior Division versus Division One matchups - League Cup holders Bishops Waltham Dynamos (now in the GMMS), host Headley United, and in-form Liss Athletic, who took AFC Portchester to penalties in midweek, host Whiteley Wanderers.

Sway, second bottom in the Senior Division, have a tough tie against Overton United, going well in Division One, and Hayling United, who gained their first Division One win of the season last weekend, host Denmead.

The all-Division One game sees AFC Netley, who ended a poor run last weekend with a draw at Crofton, at home to QK Southampton.
