WEEKEND PREVIEW - DECEMBER 2

Nov 30, 2023

This weekend's fixtures are dominated by the third round of the Hampshire Saturday Trophy. Somehow all second round games were resolved in time, despite the weather.

FIXTURES

It is Bishops Waltham Dynamos' turn this time to face a trip to the Island to face West Wight, conquerors of Fleet Spurs in the last round (eventually).

Several of our sides travel to Southampton League opposition - Hook to BTC Southampton, Upham to Dynamo Dockside, Colden Common to Warsash Wasps (they faced each other in this competition last season too) and Liss Athletic go to Senior 1 Winsor United Green, who won 5-1 at Twentyten in the last round.

Two of our clubs travel to face reserve teams of higher-ranked opposition - Whitehill & Bordon are at Tadley Calleva, and Locks Heath are at US Portsmouth. One also plays a reserve side at home, Liphook United playing Cowes Sports.

There is one all-Senior Division clash as Sway host Denmead, and two Senior Division sides face potentially tricky Division 1 opposition at home - Harvest play AFC Netley, and Infinity face Hedge End Town.

TABLES

There are several league games too - in the Senior Division, Hayling United, who have risen to fourth place on the back of four successive wins, will look to extend that sequence as they host third-bottom Paulsgrove, and Stockbridge will similarly be looking to climb the table as they entertain Fleet Spurs.

In Division 1 leaders Meon Milton have an attractive home game against third-placed Headley United. It's second bottom against second top as Michelmersh & Timsbury play Hedge End Rangers. Fourth-placed Whiteley Wanderers are at home to QK Southampton in another promising-looking matchup.

Four of the bottom five play each other - third bottom Broughton play bottom club Twentyten, and Lyndhurst are at home to Overton United, who won 3-1 in the home game against the same opposition last week to put a bit of breathing space between them and the rest.
