WEEKEND PREVIEW - DECEMBER 9

Dec 07, 2023

A mixture of cup games and league games once again this weekend - if the weather co-operates.

There are two Hampshire Saturday Trophy matches planned, with Liphook United hosting Cowes Sports Res, and Locks Heath travelling to US Portsmouth Res to replay the match abandoned due to fog last Saturday.

In the uhlsport Hampshire Premier League Cup, we have two quarter-final matches, Harvest hosting holders Colden Common should be a matchup worth watching, and Division 1 Overton United, who have had two good wins recently, host Senior Division Bishops Waltham Dynamos.

In the Senior Division, Hayling United, who have risen to fourth on the back of four league wins in a row, will be looking to get closer to the top three as they are at home to Liss Athletic, who have been sliding down the table after five league defeats in a row. With the teams around them in cup action, second-placed Infinity could go top with a home win over Moneyfields Res. The bottom two are both at home, Hook play Paulsgrove, just one place above them with the same number of points, so this could be quite a battle, and Fleet Spurs play Whitehill & Bordon.

Division One has five games - leaders Meon Milton are at home to bottom club Twentyten. If they slip up then Whiteley Wanderers, with games in hand, could take over at the top with a win at second-bottom Broughton.

Also right up there are Hedge End Rangers, who are are only two points behind Whiteley, and are home to AFC Netley, and Headley United, who host third-bottom Lyndhurst. Finally, two teams in mid-table, but with eyes for a higher placing, clash at Ray's Farm as Upham host QK Southampton.
