WEEKEND PREVIEW - DECEMBER 15

Dec 15, 2023

Let's hope for better weather this weekend! Again, a few cup games interspersed with some important league games is what is on the agenda.

In the Hants Saturday Trophy, Denmead now have home advantage against Sway, so the match should be played to conclusion as it's at Front Lawn. With the teams separated by two points in the league, this is a hard one to call.

A George Mason Memorial Shield quarter-final is scheduled to be played at Ray's Farm, where Upham host AFC Netley in another close-looking tie.

There are North Hants Intermediate Cup ties, as Overton United play North Waltham U23 and Broughton host Twentyten, and there are two matches in the Aldershot Intermediate Cup as Liphook host Abbey Rangers Development and Headley United are at home to Midhurst and Easebourne Res. As you can see, the Aldershot Intermediate Cup covers a wide geographic area.

In the Senior Division, new leaders Infinity face a potentially tricky visit to Mountbatten to face Bishops Waltham Dynamos. If they slip up then Locks Heath can overtake them with a win at Liss Athletic, who have fallen away recently.

Fourth-placed Hayling United will be looking to continue their great run, but face a difficult task as they visit Colden Common, who are five places below them but only two points behind and with games in hand. Bottom club Fleet Spurs are at home to Harvest and second bottom Hook are away to Whitehill & Bordon. Moneys Res have to travel to Stockbridge to play their home game.

In Division 1 only two matches are scheduled. Meon Milton, after their shock home defeat to bottom team Twentyten, could go back to the top of the table if they win at second-bottom Lyndhurst, and Hedge End Town, with games in hand, can move closer to the top four with a win at Michelmersh & Timsbury.
