WEEKEND PREVIEW - NOVEMBER 2
This weekend is dominated by the second round of the Hampshire Saturday Trophy, with only a couple of league games scheduled.
As ever, our clubs face a variety of opposition, with some interesting ties among them.
Don't forget, after the clocks went back, kick-off times from now will normally be 1400, but see our fixture list for details!
Four of our teams face IOW opposition in the Trophy. Two face trips over to the Island - Upham have the toughest task as they travel to Whitecroft & Barton - eight league wins out of eight so far - and Whiteley Wanderers go to mid-table West Wight.
Two are at home - Liphook United host Osborne Coburg, who are in the lower reaches of the league, but Locks Heath have an attractive tie against Shanklin, whom they've met a couple of times before.
We have two matches between Senior Division and Division One clubs - Trophy holders Hedge End Town are at Meon Milton, which should be a good one to watch, and the bottom teams of each division play each other as QK Southampton host Paulsgrove.
Four of our teams have opposition from other local leagues: Broughton, doing so well in Division One, are at home to AFC Shirley, who have good form in the Southampton Premier League; as do BTC, who travel to Stockbridge, themselves looking to put last weekend's heavy defeat to Liss Athletic behind them.
Crofton Saints travel to Michelmersh & Timsbury, who are struggling in the Southampton Premier League, having been relegated from the HPFL at the end of last season.
Andover Town - fresh from their midweek local derby at Andover New Street in front of more than 500 supporters - will fancy their chances at a Fleet Spurs outfit who are struggling at the foot of the Thames Valley Division One, having plied their trade in the HPFL last season.
Several ties involve our teams against various reserve teams, which are always hard to call. Two are against our own teams' reserve sides: Hook travel to Colden Common Reserves (at Colden Common Park), and Headley United host Meon Milton Reserves.
The others see Moneyfields Reserves at Tadley Calleva Reserves, Mob Albion at Fawley Reserves, Silchester are at US Portsmouth Reserves, and in-form Overton United are at home to Follands Sports 'A'.
Finally, there are all-HPFL match ups, two all-Senior Division games as Colden Common play Denmead (at Winchester City) and Harvest play Hedge End Rangers. Both home teams had good results last weekend. Liss Athletic, in great form at the moment having scored ten last weekend, play mid-table Division One side, Rushmoor Community in what should be a competitive encounter.
In the league, there's a solitary game in each division - in the Senior, Sway - who won for the first time in a while last weekend - host Bishops Waltham Dynamos, who struck seven without reply at Paulsgrove.
In Division One it's a bottom four clash as Twentyten host Hayling United; both teams will be encouraged by their results last Saturday.
