WEEKEND PREVIEW - JANUARY 4
A mixed bag of fixtures on the first Saturday of the new year - no Division One games, several Senior Division games and a few cup games.
We start with three Hampshire Saturday Trophy games that were postponed in December - there are two very interesting ties featuring our teams against leading teams from other leagues.
Whitehill & Bordon host Bournemouth Sports, top of the Dorset Premier League. Mob Albion travel to Hart United, top of the Aldershot League, having won all ten league games and having scored 54 goals.
The other tie sees Senior Division Andover Town at home to Headley United of Division One, who beat Crofton Saints in November.
There is one uhlsport League Cup match scheduled, which sees an all-Senior Division top four clash as Hook play Colden Common. Hook won the corresponding league fixture 4-2 in October.
Another all-Senior Division tie, in the George Mason Memorial Cup, sees in-form Bishops Waltham Dynamos host Denmead. The league fixture in September finished 3-0 to the home side.
Finally, in the Senior Division, with some sides in cup action, there is a chance for others to catch up on those above them. Second placed Locks Heath could draw level on points with Common at the top if they win at bottom team Paulsgrove in what is usually a pretty competitive fixture.
There is an attractive fixture at Liss where the in-form home team will be looking to overtake opponents Stockbridge with a win, although the Robins did win at Andover Town last time out. Liphook United and Meon Milton are currently mid-table but could challenge the top six if they win home games against Harvest and Hedge End Rangers respectively.
Neither game will be easy though. Further down the table, second-bottom Sway, six defeats in a row, are at home to third-bottom Moneyfields Res, the visitors are not in bad form at the moment. Sway did win the reverse fixture 4-3.
