WEEKEND PREVIEW - DEC 10

Dec 08, 2022

It promises to be a cold weekend, but there is a pretty full programme of league matches, plus the odd cup game, to get everyone warmed up before some match or other that's on TV on Saturday evening.

In the Senior Division, leaders Andover New Street Swifts are at home to Liphook United, and second-placed Stockbridge are at Overton United, so both teams will be hoping to pick up points from opponents who are in the bottom five to keep up their title challenge.

Locks Heath - fresh from their midweek victory in the Southampton Senior Cup at Wessex Leaguers, Blackfield & Langney - have games in hand on these two, hosting Moneyfields Reserves in a reversed 'home' game for the visitors, who are one of three teams level on points in the bottom four.

Also with games in hand are fourth-placed Colden Common, who play at Hayling United, whose win last weekend lifted them off the bottom. Teams hoping to put pressure on the top four are Harvest, who are at Winchester Castle, while Whitehill & Bordon entertain Paulsgrove.

Two 3G's who will be looking to beat the freeze are at Front Lawn, where Denmead are at home to Liss Athletic, and at the Draper Tools Community Stadium, where Clanfield (pictured) host Sway - the visitors beating Stockbridge 4-1 last time out.

FIXTURES

In Division One, leaders Infinity have a home game against Headley United, and second-placed Hook travel to Whiteley Wanderers.

AFC Netley, in third, have games in hand on the top two and visit the 3G at Winklebury to face TwentyTen. Hedge End Town could climb into the top five if they win at bottom club Michelmersh & Timsbury, and Broughton host the inconsistent AFC Petersfield.

There are also two cup games: in the George Mason Memorial Shield, in these, Senior Division QK Southampton have a potential banana skin at home to Division One, Upham, and in a Hampshire Saturday Trophy encounter, Meon Milton travel to Eversley and California Reserves.
