WEEKEND PREVIEW - APRIL 1

Mar 29, 2023

Saturday sees League kick-off's return to 3pm after the clocks sprung forward - let's hope the weather plays its part to deliver a full calendar.

The game of the day should have few issues on Havant & Waterlooville's 3G, as Senior Division leaders, Colden Common, face Thames Valley table-toppers, Yateley United in the Hampshire Senior Trophy Final (7.30pm).

In Common chasing cup silverware, there are several teams just behind them at the top of the table who will be trying to make up ground.

Pick of the bunch in the Senior Division is Liphook United, currently unbeaten in eight, at home to second-placed Clanfield (pictured, in blue), on a good run and unbeaten in the league since mid-Sept.

COMING-UP - FIXTURES

Third-placed Locks Heath are not playing, so Andover New Street Swifts can move above them with a home win over Liss Athletic. There is a clash of two teams just behind them as Stockbridge will be looking to end their poor run as they face Denmead, who have games in hand on the top four.

Harvest are currently fifth and can stay there with a home win over bottom team QK Southampton, who can move to within a point of second-bottom Overton - who also have games in hand - with a win. An improving third-bottom Hayling United host mid-table Paulsgrove.

In Division One, leaders Infinity can clinch the title at the first attempt if they avoid defeat at home to nearest rivals Hook, who themselves need just four points from their remaining four to secure a top-two finish.

LEAGUE TABLES

Hedge End Town, who beat Infinity last Saturday, will need to pick up points at Headley United to maintain their own promotion interests, with fourth-placed Meon Milton at TwentyTen, while Upham travel to the New Forest to face second-bottom Lyndhurst.

Whiteley Wanderers could overtake out-of-form Broughton into ninth place of they beat them at Meadowside.
