WEEKEND PREVIEW - 6 DECEMBER

6 December 2025

Weather permitting, a lot of our clubs are competing in the Hampshire Saturday Trophy this weekend, there are a few league matches too.

In the Hampshire Saturday Trophy, there is a large variety of opposition for our teams.

The first three opponents we mention are formerly of our league. Hayling United host Fleet Spurs, now near the bottom of Thames Valley Div One.

Meon Milton are at home to Lyndhurst, second in the Southampton League, having lost their last two. Andover Town have a home tie with Bournemouth Sports, doing well in the Dorset Premier League.

Stockbridge host Hart United, second in the Surrey Intermediate (Western). Whitehill & Bordon probably have the hardest task, a a trip to the Island to face IOW leaders Whitecroft & Barton Sports - a battle of the W&Bs.

Several teams play assorted reserve/development/'A' teams, which as we know are often unpredictable affairs. AFC Shirley are at home to Petersfield Town Reserves, BTC Southampton host Folland Sports 'A' of the Southampton League, Broughton travel to US Portsmouth Res, Twentyten travel to Ringwood Town Dev, and Southsea Sports host Fareham Town Dev.

There are also two all-HPFL ties: Third-bottom Liphook United are at home to second-placed Hook, both in the Senior Division, and Division 1 Headley United play Hedge End Rangers of the Senior Division.

In the Senior Division, Locks Heath could go third if they bounce back from two consecutive defeats and defeat Moneyfields Res at the Rec. Denmead could overtake Liss Athletic in fifth if they beat them at 32 Acres.

In Division One, leaders Overton United face a stiff test of their 100% record as they travel to Hedge End Town, who are sixth, but have lost their last two games.

Third-placed Silchester Village host Rushmoor Community; the reverse fixture was played last week and was a thrilling 4-3 win for Rushmoor. Fifth-placed Nursling & Shirley could rise a place or two if they win at home against Mob Albion.

Paulsgrove could move off the bottom as they host Sway, who are are only four points above them, and who lost to the Grove in the reverse fixture last month.
