WEEKEND PREVIEW - 20 JANUARY

Jan 18, 2024

Weather permitting, there are mostly league games scheduled for this coming weekend, with a smattering of cup encounters.

In the Senior Division, leaders Infinity, after their defeat at Paulsgrove last weekend, travel to Hook, who may be third-bottom but have won their last two games.

None of the teams immediately below them are playing, the next highest-placed club in action are Hayling United, in fifth, who host Bishops Waltham Dynamos, who won well at at Locks Heath last time out.

Below Hayling, eight teams are separated by just three points, and two of those play each other when Paulsgrove host Harvest. The bottom two are in action - Colden Common, who have games in hand on the rest due to cup exploits, travel to Denmead, and Fleet Spurs face Moneyfields Res at Kennels Lane.

FIXTURES

In Division One, a full complement of games are scheduled. Leaders Whiteley Wanderers are at Oasis Mayfield again, this time facing AFC Netley.

Hedge End Rangers took over second place last weekend and can consolidate on that with a win at bottom club Lyndhurst, although the latter gained a remarkable 7-7 draw at Meon Milton last time out. Meon dropped to third as a result of that and now have a tricky game at Upham.

Hedge End Town, another team with cup success, have many games in hand on those above them and are in league action this week as they host Twentyten. Sixth play fourth as QK Southampton play Headley United, and third-bottom Michelmersh & Timsbury are at home to Overton United, who are pulling away from the danger zone.

In the George Mason Memorial Shield, the first of the semi-finals is being played as Stockbridge play Sway. This is at Stockbridge Rec as cup semi-finals are being played at home grounds this season.

TABLE

There are two ties in the Aldershot Intermediate Cup, Liphook United face Aldershot Senior Division Ropley, while Liss Athletic travel to Aldershot Division One side, Woking United.

Broughton travel to Colden Common Reserves in the North Hants Intermediate Cup.
