WEEKEND PREVIEW - 17 FEBRUARY

Feb 15, 2024

After another wet week, if all goes well, two cup matches and a fairly full league programme await us this weekend.

The first of the uhlsport League Cup semi-finals is due to take place, and it's between two teams in mid-table in the Senior Division as Bishops Waltham Dynamos play Harvest, who are also in the semi-final of the Hampshire Saturday Trophy.

We also have a semi-final in the George Mason Memorial Shield, an all-Division One affair as high-flying Hedge End Town entertain Headley United. The two sides played last weekend at Headley in a league game, Town winning 3-0.

TABLES

In the Senior Division, leaders Infinity have had two good home wins in four days to get back on track, and now they must travel to mid-table Denmead. Liphook United, in second, have several games in hand on Infinity, but have a tricky local derby at Whitehill & Bordon. Third-placed Stockbridge must also take care as they face a trip to Hook, who climbed out of the bottom two last weekend, and are three unbeaten in the league. Two teams that are not in great form face each other as Locks Heath (fourth) entertain Hayling United (seventh). Just below Locks are Paulsgrove, who could overtake them with a win, but they will face a big test at Liss Athletic. Sway are fourth from bottom and will look to improve on that as they are home to bottom side Fleet Spurs , who have only won one league game all season. Second from bottom play third from bottom as Moneyfields Res play Colden Common; the fixture is at Oakwood Park, where the teams drew 2-2 at the end of January.

RESULTS

In Division One, leaders Hedge End Rangers, who have just suffered two away defeats in a row, must travel to Twentyten. One of those defeats was at AFC Netley, who host second-placed Meon Milton this weekend. Whiteley Wanderers, in fourth, have picked up one point from their last four games and cannot afford any more slipups as they play Broughton, who beat Hedge End Rangers last weekend. The bottom two face each other, Michelmersh & Timsbury hosting Lyndhurst, who had that win at Whiteley last weekend. Finally, QK Southampton play Upham in a mid-table clash, with both teams looking to challenge the top four.
