WEEKEND PREVIEW - 30 MARCH

Mar 28, 2024

Easter weekend brings nearly a full programme of league games on Saturday and there are several more scheduled for Monday.

TABLES

On Saturday, leaders Infinity, after their loss at Locks Heath in midweek, look to increase their lead at the top of the Senior Division as they travel to Hook. Their main challengers, Liphook United, with those many games in hand, are at Sway. We have another top four clash at Locks Heath Rec, where Stockbridge are the visitors. Sixth play seventh as it's a battle of the long names as Bishops Waltham Dynamos host Whitehill & Bordon. It's still very tight in the lower reaches of the table, and two of the teams who are now in the bottom five meet at Front Lawn, Denmead being the designated home team against co-habitants Harvest. Colden Common could actually rise to ninth if results went their way and they beat bottom side Fleet Spurs, who had a good draw at Liss last weekend, at Oakwood Park.

FIXTURES

On Monday Liphook play one of their games in hand on the leaders as they travel to Fleet Spurs. Stockbridge entertain Paulsgrove in a top 5 battle, and the other three games are between teams in the congested mid/lower mid table area, with Colden Common at home to Denmead, Bishops Waltham Dynamos playing at Hook, and there is a local derby at the BOSC as Whitehill & Bordon play Liss Athletic. On Saturday, we also have the other Aldershot Intermediate Cup semi-final as Liss Athletic travel to Hartley Wintney Dev, hoping to set up a derby final with Liphook United, who won the other semi-final last week.

RESULTS

In Division One, on Saturday, leaders Hedge End Rangers face a tricky task at Headley United. Meon Milton, in second, are seven points behind with two games in hand and also have a difficult game at fifth-placed Upham. The big game is at the Oasis where third placed Whiteley Wanderers are at hime to fourth placed Hedge End Town, who are 14 points behind the leaders with six games in hand. The bottom three are all in action - third-bottom Twentyten are at home to QK Southampton, whom they beat at the Hive last weekend, second-bottom Lyndhurst have a difficult trip to AFC Netley, so do bottom club Michelmersh & Timsbury who are at Overton United. On Monday fourth-bottom Broughton travel to AFC Netley, and Upham play QK Southampton.
