WEEKEND PREVIEW - OCT 22

Oct 21, 2022

After cup escapades both last weekend and in the Russell Cotes during midweek, it's back to league action this weekend for the majority of our sides.

In the Senior Division, the standout game seems to be leaders Andover New Street Swifts at home to Denmead, who, although in sixth, have games in hand and could overtake Swifts if they won them all.

Second-placed Stockbridge and third-placed Locks Heath will be looking to win their home games against lower-placed opposition in Liphook United and Moneyfields Res respectively to keep up the pressure at the top.

Colden Common - fresh from their Russell Cotes Cup success at Fareham Town in the week (pictured) - have a tricky-looking match at Liss Athletic, and fifth-place Harvest take on Clanfield at Front Lawn, which could also be a close encounter.

Lower down the table, bottom team Sway host Winchester Castle, while Overton United versus QK Southampton appears another important fixture at the wrong end of the table.

Mid-table Whitehill & Bordon host second bottom Hayling United, who will be looking for points after poor recent form.

Back in the Russell Cotes Cup, Paulsgrove welcome Wessex League neighbours, Moneyfields to Marsden Road, looking to add to the positive performances from fellow HPFL sides during the week.

In Division One, leaders Hook have a tough away assignment at Hedge End Town, and second-placed Infinity - with games in hand on the leaders - have no easier a task as they travel to third-placed Meon Milton. The two clubs just behind them will be looking to make up ground, as AFC Netley travel to AFC Petersfield (at West Meon), and Headley United travel to Lyndhurst.

Two clubs in mid-table but also looking to move up clash as Twentyten host Upham. Second-bottom are at home to third-bottom as Michelmersh & Timsbury are at home to Whiteley Wanderers.

In the North Hampshire Intermediate Cup, Broughton travel to Whitchurch United U23.
