WEEKEND PREVIEW - NOV 19

Nov 16, 2022

This weekend sees a mixture of league fixtures and 'domestic' cup games.

In the L4 Teamwear Hampshire Premier League Cup we have an appetising clash of the Senior Division big boys as Stockbridge (pictured) host Colden Common. Another all-Senior Division match sees Liss Athletic host Winchester Castle. Both of these are quarter-final ties.

In the second round, Senior Division clubs who may have tricky ties against Division One sides include Harvest, who entertain Headley United, and particularly Moneyfields Reserves, who travel to Division One leaders, Hook.

The George Mason Memorial Shield, intended for teams knocked out of the first round of the HPFL Cup above, also has some interesting ties: an all-Senior-Division matchup sees leaders Andover New Street Swifts at home to bottom team Hayling United, and an A3 derby as Whitehill & Bordon play Liphook United. Both of these are quarter-final ties.

In Round One, two Division One teams play each other as Meon Milton are at home to Upham, which should make for a good game.

As for the League itself, the Senior Division sees Clanfield - with games in hand on most of the top five - looking to bridge the gap with a home game against Paulsgrove - buoyed by their 7-0 victory against Hayling United seven days ago;

Denmead, another team in a similar position to the Clan, travel to second-bottom Overton United, and two teams looking to pull away from the nether regions play each other as Sway host QK Southampton.

In Division One, Infinity could overtake leaders Hook at the top if they beat Lyndhurst at home. The visitors have just won two games in a row, however under new manager, Alisdair Pugi.

Hedge End Town versus AFC Netley is a meeting of two teams who could challenge the top two if they win their games in hand.

Whiteley Wanderers have already ensured that their game goes ahead as they play AFC Petersfield in a bottom-of-the-table clash on the 3G at Brookfield School.

Another match between teams in the lower half of the table takes place at Broughton, where bottom club Michelmersh & Timsbury are the visitors.
