WEEKEND PREVIEW - NOV 12

Nov 11, 2022

We had surprisingly few games called off last weekend despite the weather, so this coming Remembrance Saturday sees mainly league games, as planned.

There are three Hampshire Saturday Trophy games to conclude, however, with all of our teams travelling.

Clanfield go to Southampton League Comrades in a game that was rained off last weekend. The other two games involve trips to Wessex League reserve sides. with Colden Common at Alton Reserves, and Moneyfields Reserves at Ringwood Reserves.

The Senior Division has some interesting games, with leaders Andover New Street Swifts facing a tricky journey to Front Lawn to play Denmead. If they slip up, then second-placed Stockbridge can catch them at the top if they beat Winchester Castle at home. Third-placed Locks Heath are also at home, to QK Southampton.

Harvest will also be looking to move up the table if they can win at Liss Athletic, as will Sway, who, with games in hand, face second-bottom Liphook United. Bottom club Hayling United travel to Paulsgrove, who are only two points - although five places - above them. Overton United are just above the bottom two and are also in need of some points as they go to Whitehill and Bordon.

Division One leaders Hook are not playing, so Infinity will be looking to reduce the gap at the top (they are four points behind, but have two games in hand) with a win at Twentyten, which may not be an easy task.

The teams in third and fourth, Meon Milton and AFC Netley, will be looking to pick up points to put pressure on the leaders with trips to Lyndhurst and Broughton respectively.

Hedge End Town v Upham sees a battle of two teams in midfield, both capable of mounting a push for the top five, and Headley United, who also fall into that category, will be hoping for a good result at home to improving Whiteley Wanderers - this could be an interesting clash.

Headley will also be wanting to get a cup defeat to Warsash Waaps out of their system. AFC Petersfield v Michelmersh and Timsbury is a battle of two teams near the bottom who desperately need the points.

COMING UP - FIXTURES

Clubs are reminded to hold a minutes' silence ahead of their fixtures on Saturday, as The Hampshire Premier League remembers the service and sacrifice of those who gave their lives to defend our freedoms.
