WEEKEND PREVIEW - MARCH 8

6 March 2025

A weekend with three cup games and a lot of important league games.

In the uhlsport Hampshire Premier League Cup, the quarter-final sees Senior Division leaders Colden Common, unbeaten since mid-Oct in the league, but who lost on penalties in the Hampshire Saturday Trophy last weekend, at home to Hook, who have slipped to mid-table after a run of four defeats in the last five, but who are still dangerous opposition.

RESULTS

In the George Mason Memorial Shield, the semi-final sees Overton United, going well in third place in Division One, host Denmead of the Senior Division, who had a 9-1 win last weekend. This could be a close one.

And in the Aldershot Intermediate Cup, Whitehill & Bordon play Midhurst and Easebourne Res in a bid to set up a meeting with Rushmoor Community in the final.

In the Senior Division the top two are not in action, so Bishops Waltham Dynamos could go second with a win at mid-table Meon Milton, not an easy task. There is a big game at the Portway as fifth-placed Andover Town, back in form and with games in hand, are at home to fourth-placed Hedge End Rangers.

TABLES

The bottom three are all in action as last-placed club Paulsgrove play Liphook United, who are not in great form either, second-bottom Sway travel to Harvest, and third-bottom Moneyfields Res host Stockbridge, who are four games unbeaten in seventh.

In Division One, leaders Broughton need to put last week's defeat at Headley behind them as they are at Crofton Saints, in fourth, who have games in hand, going well in the cups, and are ten games unbeaten.

FIXTURES

Some crucial games for the teams placed fifth to seventh, who all host teams in the bottom three. Hayling United play Whiteley Wanderers, the reverse fixture ended in an exciting 4-3 win for the Humbugs recently; Silchester Village play Twentyten, and AFC Netley play QK Southampton.

Just above the bottom three, Headley United, fresh from their win over Broughton, host Mob Albion, who had a vital win at Upham last time out. Upham are firmly mid-table now after just one win in six and are at home to the team just below them, Rushmoor Community, who beat Liphook to reach the ADFA Cup Final last time out.
