WEEKEND PREVIEW - MARCH 29
By the end of Saturday we should know the identity of the fourth of our cup finalists - the second George Mason Memorial Shield semi-final sees a potential cracker between Liss Athletic and Andover Town, both top seven in the Senior Division with games in hand on those above, both losing last weekend to end decent unbeaten runs.
Liss won 1-0 at Andover in the league match at the start of February. The winners play Denmead in the final.
In the Senior Division, leaders Colden Common, after a midweek win, are four points clear with games in hand on those below them. They face a quick return to Whitehill & Bordon this weekend, having won there 1-0 only last Saturday in the League Cup.
Locks Heath moved back into second in midweek and have a difficult trip to sixth-placed Hook, who have won their last two games after a poor run. Bishops Waltham Dynamos are third and this time travel to mid-table Stockbridge, who haven't won in three games. Hedge End Rangers are fourth from top and host fourth from bottom Moneyfields Res.
Liphook United host second-bottom Sway, where they won 2-1 in early February. Sway and Paulsgrove are now assured of finishing in the bottom two places. Denmead host Harvest at Front Lawn in a mid-table clash.
If leaders Broughton win their last three games then they will be champions of Division One, regardless of what happens elsewhere. The first game of those three is this Saturday, at home to fourth-bottom Headley United, who beat them 4-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this month.
Second-placed Overton United, five league wins on the spin, travel to fifth-bottom Mob Albion. Hedge End Town, in third, have recently had defeats against the current top two, this time they have a tough trip to AFC Netley, who still have chances of a top five place. It was 3-2 to HET in the reverse fixture recently.
Crofton Saints, twelve unbeaten in all competitions, are fourth, and with games in hand can still catch the top two - this weekend they host Rushmoor Community, who should give them a good game.
Silchester Village's run of eight unbeaten was ended at Broughton on Saturday and they are another club chasing a top five place as they host Upham.
Near the bottom there is a massive fixture at the Hive - if third-last QK Southampton beat second-bottom Whiteley Wanderers then they cannot be caught. QK have won their last two games, Whiteley's winless run continues at twelve.
