WEEKEND PREVIEW - JAN 7

Jan 05, 2023

Hopefully the weather will allow an appetising-looking set of fixtures to be played this weekend.

The Hampshire Saturday Trophy reaches the last 16, with several of our teams seeking a place in the quarter-finals.

Tough tasks await Locks Heath, who visit Yateley United - opponents who carry an immaculate 100% record into the tie, winning all their 13 games in the Thames Valley Premier League.

Our own Senior Division leaders, Andover New Street Swifts, cross the water to meet Whitecroft & Barton Sports, and Hedge End Town visit Bournemouth Sports.

Colden Common face a tricky trip to Warsash Wasps, who are going well in the Southampton League.

COMING UP - FIXTURES

Two of our sides face reserve teams, including Clanfield at Fawley Reserves, and Meon Milton who entertain Eversley & California Reserves.

There is also one all-HPFL Senior division clash, with Denmead at home to Winchester Castle.

There are also quite a few league games scheduled. In the Senior Division, Stockbridge can overtake Andover New Street Swifts at the top with a win at Liphook United.

TABLES

Teams in need of the points near the bottom include Hayling United, home to Liss Athletic, Paulsgrove, who host Sway, and QK Southampton, who host Overton United. Harvest can put pressure on the top four if they win at Whitehill and Bordon.

In Division One, the stand-out game at the top is fourth-placed AFC Netley at home to leaders Infinity (pictured).

At the other end of the table there is a clash of the bottom two at Lyndhurst, where Michelmersh & Timsbury are the visitors. Upham, at Broughton, and Twentyten, at home to Whiteley Wanderers - who could put pressure on the teams above them with victories, but neither game is a foregone conclusion. Finally, AFC Petersfield host Headley United at West Meon.
