WEEKEND PREVIEW - FEBRUARY 8

6 February 2025

Almost a full league programme awaits us this Saturday before we hit the cup trail again next weekend.

In the Senior Division, we have a big game at Locks Heath where the top two clash - visiting leaders Colden Common have a four point lead with two games in hand.

We also have two more top games - one at Newman Collard, as third-placed Bishops Waltham Dynamos, level on points with Locks, have a difficult trip to Liss Athletic, one league defeat in nine and on the way up in seventh; and the other at the Hook KGV, where it's fifth versus fourth as Hedge End Rangers, fresh from an 8-2 win last weekend, are the visitors.

TABLES

At the other end of the table, bottom side Paulsgrove travel to Moneyfields Res, only two places above them, and Sway entertain Denmead.

In midfield, two teams that ended poor runs last time out face each other as Stockbridge play Liphook United, and both Andover Town and Meon Milton will be looking to get back on track as they meet at the Portway. Harvest host Whitehill & Bordon at Langstone.

RESULTS

In Division One, leaders Broughton, who had an important home win over nearest rivals Hedge End Town last weekend, are this time at home to another title challenger, Overton United, in third, who are twelve points behind but with two games in hand. Another closely-fought game awaits. HET look to maintain their title push as they face a tricky trip to Silchester Village.

Another team who, with games in hand, must still be considered in the hunt, are Crofton Saints, who are at home to bottom side Twentyten. AFC Netley are still on a good run in fifth and have an interesting trip to Hayling United. Upham are only a couple of points behind Netley and host QK Southampton, who need a result as they are only a point off last place, despite ten points in their last five games.

FIXTURES

Headley United are well behind with their games and they are at home to mid-table Rushmoor Community in a local game this weekend, hoping to get some points and move up the table.

The one cup game this week is a remaining second round match in the Portsmouth Senior Cup where Meon Milton Res host Mob Albion. The winners play the Royal Navy in the quarter-finals.
