WEEKEND PREVIEW - FEBRUARY 15
We have several cup games scheduled for this weekend, but also plenty of important league games.
In the Hampshire Saturday Trophy, our remaining two teams in the quarter final travel to reserve/development teams hoping to join Colden Common and Crofton Saints in the semis.
Hook travel to Tadley Calleva Res and Whitehill & Bordon travel to Ringwood Town Dev.
We have a cracking uhlsport Hampshire Premier League Cup quarter-final match in prospect as the top two sides in Div One meet at the NormRod, where Hedge End Town entertain Broughton. The league game at Broughton a couple of weeks ago resulted in a hard-fought 2-1 win for the home side. The winners will play Crofton Saints in the semis.
There is also the remaining George Mason Memorial Shield quarter final game with Senior Division Andover Town hosting QK Southampton, second-bottom of Div One.
In the North Hants Intermediate Cup, Silchester Village entertain Twentyten in an all-Div One clash in the first semi-final, and in the Aldershot Intermediate Cup Rushmoor Community go to Hartley Wintney Dev.
Lots of league action too: in the Senior Division, it's top v bottom as Colden Common are at home to Paulsgrove, second-placed Locks Heath play mid-table Stockbridge, unpredictable as ever, and third-placed Bishops Waltham Dynamos host second-bottom Sway.
There is a very important clash between seventh-placed Liss Athletic, with games in hand, and Hedge End Rangers, in fourth, with both teams on excellent runs. In midfield, Meon Milton are at home to Harvest in what is now a local derby.
In Division One, with the top two in cup action, Overton United could go second if they win at Headley United, who are third-bottom but with games in hand on those above.
Crofton Saints, in fourth, have a fairly local game at fourth-bottom Whiteley Wanderers. There is an appetising encounter at Ray's Farm as sixth-placed Upham play AFC Netley, in fifth, with the visitors in better recent form, although they lost last week.
A congested mid-table section means that Hayling United, also in good form, could get into the top six if they win at Mob Albion and other results go their way, a great recovery from their poor start to the season. Mob need to start picking up points to avoid being dragged down into a basement battle, having played more games than those below them.
