WEEKEND PREVIEW - 2 MARCH

Feb 29, 2024

Weather permitting, again we have one cup match, and a pretty full programme of league matches scheduled.

The second semi-final in the George Mason Memorial Shield is due to be played at Stockbridge, where the Senior division hosts take on Division One Upham, who reached the final last year. The winners will play Hedge End Town in the final.

FIXTURES

In the Senior Division, all eyes will be on the encounter at Liphook where the second-placed hosts play leaders Infinity. Liphook are eleven points behind but have eight games in hand, however they have not applied for promotion. With Stockbridge ln cup action, fourth placed Locks Heath could move to within three points of them if they beat Denmead at home. Locks won last time out after a poor run. Two of three teams on the same number of points just below Locks are on good runs, but face tricky away games - fifth-placed Paulsgrove are at Sway, and Bishops Waltham Dynamos are at Hook. The bottom three are all in action, and will be hoping to pick up points from teams not far above them - Fleet Spurs, who are sixteen points adrift in last place, are at home to Liss Athletic, Moneyfields Res face the unpredictable Harvest at Cowplain 4G, and Colden Common travel to Whitehill & Bordon.

TABLES

In Division 1, after their derby victory last weekend, leaders Hedge End Rangers have another home game, this time against Overton United. Meon Milton, in second, are now four points behind Rangers, and they travel to second-bottom Twentyten at Winklebury. Whiteley Wanderers, in third, go to out-of-form Headley United (five defeats in a row), who lost 2-3 to Whiteley in the reverse fixture recently.

RESULTS

Fourth-placed Hedge End Town, with games in hand on teams above them, host bottom-placed Michelmersh & Timsbury. Third-bottom play fourth-bottom at Wellands Road as Lyndhurst, who have won their last two games, entertain Broughton. QK Southampton, who have now risen to fifth, play AFC Netley, only a point behind them.
