WEEKEND PREVIEW - 16 MARCH

Mar 14, 2024

Weather permitting, we have the second uhlsport Hampshire Premier League Cup semi-final this coming weekend as Liphook United, whose chances of a treble disappeared last weekend. host Locks Heath. The winners will play Bishops Waltham Dynamos in the final.

TABLES

In the Senior Division, leaders Infinity need to keep winning to boost their chances of being the highest-ranked promotion candidate, and they have a tricky-looking tie at unpredictable Harvest. Third-placed Stockbridge can still overtake Infinity if they win all their games in hand, and this weekend they must travel to Colden Common, who are third-bottom, and urgently need the points themselves.  At the bottom, Fleet Spurs, fresh from their second league win of the season last time out, travel to Liss Athletic, only three places, but 17 points, above them. Another big basement battle sees second-bottom Moneyfields Res take on Denmead, who have fallen to fifth from bottom after three successive league defeats.

Remarkably, five teams are tied on 29 points in positions 5-9. Sway are currently fifth on goal difference, and have a difficult task at Bishops Waltham Dynamos, who are eighth, and are in good form. Sixth-placed Paulsgrove will hope to put that defeat to Fleet Spurs behind them as they travel to Hayling United in ninth, who have lost three in a row. Seventh-placed Whitehill & Bordon host Hook, who will be looking for their third successive win.

FIXTURES

In Division One, match of the day is at Oasis Mayfield as third-placed Whiteley Wanderers play leaders Hedge End Rangers.
