WEEKEND PREVIEW - SEPTEMBER 14

12 September 2024

After an exciting League Cup weekend, and some great cup results for some of our teams in midweek, we're back to normal next weekend with a full league programme scheduled.

The top two in the Senior Division are away to clubs who are on poor runs and who lost to Division One sides in the League Cup - leaders Liphook United visit Denmead, and Colden Common are at Paulsgrove.

RESULTS

The two teams below them played a lot of away games in August, so have a few home fixtures to catch up on: Hedge End Rangers, in third, have won six in a row and play Stockbridge. Locks Heath, in fourth, having beaten Hythe & Dibden in midweek, play Sway. Level with Locks are Meon Milton, who should expect a hard game at Harvest.

A couple of teams nearer the bottom have tricky-looking matches: Bishops Waltham Dynamos, who won at Follands in midweek, travel to Hook, and Liss Athletic, who won at New Milton Town, host improving Andover Town. Finally, two teams hoping to rise out of the mid-table zone are in action as Whitehill & Bordon entertain Moneyfields Reserves, who also won in midweek.

FIXTURES

In Division One, all eyes will be on Broughton versus Crofton Saints as the top two clash in the undoubted match of the day. Broughton have won all five, Crofton have drawn one of their five, and both are a long way ahead of the field already after only five games.

Upham lead the chasing pack and travel to Whiteley Wanderers, having won there in the League Cup last Saturday by the little matter of 9-3. Overton are level with them, they lost only on penalties to Liphook in the cup, and have an attractive-looking matchup with a team doing well in their first season, Mob Albion - they beat Denmead 6-3 in the cup last weekend.

TABLES

Rushmoor Community have also made a decent start to life at the new level and they host Hayling United, who will be hoping for their first win in the Division after relegation last season. Teams currently in mid-table but hoping to move up are Silchester Village and AFC Netley, who face each other, and Hedge End Town, who face Twentyten, who shocked higher-level Sway on their own ground in the cup last Saturday.

Finally, Headley United will be looking to get out of the bottom four as they face QK Southampton, still to get off the mark this season.
