SUPER SATURDAY!

Mar 12, 2023

Saturday produced the unusual scenario of the Senior Division's top six meeting, which produced three home wins. Leaders Colden Common came from behind to get the better of second-placed Locks Heath by the odd goal in five at Sherfield English, and go six points cleare at the top.

The Stallions had further bonus, with third-placed Andover New Street Swifts losing 1-0 at fourth-placed Clanfield to a goal by Gouge. The Clan moved three points clear of promotion rivals Stockbridge, who lost 1-2 at Denmead, for whom Chandler and Hammond scored, and as a result the Mead draw level with the Robins in fifth.

At the bottom, the clash of the bottom two saw a vital 3-1 win for bottom club Overton United at QK Southampton (two of them from Hargood) who now fall below them.

LEAGUE TABLES

Moneyfields Reserves and Hayling United pulled further clear of the bottom two with good wins, 4-1 over Paulsgrove in the late kick-off at Havant & Waterlooville - and 3-1 at Liss Athletic respectively. Both losing teams have played more than the teams below them, so may well start to look over their shoulders.

In mid-table, Sway lost 4-1 at home to Harvest, for whom Read scored a hat-trick, and the victors move to within a point of the top six. There was also an entertaining 3-3 draw between Whitehill & Bordon and Liphook United in a local derby.

In Division One, the top two both won, leaders Infinity won 4-0 at bottom club Michelmersh & Timsbury - two of those from Osman - and Hook had a good 4-1 home win over Upham.

The top two meet next week at the King George V Playing Field. Hedge End Town are back in third after a big 4-0 win at Broughton as Twentyten lost 1-2 at Headley United. These two teams are now level on points, just one behind Hedge End.
