LEAGUE CUP SEMI-FINALS

Mar 05, 2023

UPDATE: New date for Moneyfields Reserves v Colden Common is Weds, April 5, 7.45pm at Cams Alders

The L4 Teamwear League Cup semi-finals take centre stage over the next two Wednesday evenings, at Cams Alders.

First up sees Moneyfields Reserves take on League champions, Colden Common on March 8 (7.45pm).

Having been involved in the Senior Division title race last season - a battle that Colden Common ended up prevailing in - Moneys have experienced a more challenging time in 22/23 at the wrong end of the table, but back-to-back wins at Whitehill & Bordon and QK Southampton, will give Simon Hayes side renewed optimism coming into this tie.

Common will no doubt be perceived favourites - reaching the Hampshire Trophy final with victory over League rivals Clanfield in the semi-final on Saturday (pictured), and with an interest in the League Cup and currently top of the Senior Division - the treble is on for Nathan Morgan and Connor Doswell's men.

Then on Wednesday, March 15, Locks Heath take on Liss Athletic (7.45pm).

Under the stewardship of Ben Buckland, Locks Heath are again putting in a title challenge of their own, currently residing in second spot behind Colden Common. They have already demolished cup semi-final opponents, Liss Athletic 9-0 in the Senior Division, and will have one eye on making amends on last season's League Cup final, where they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Sway.

Liss meanwhile reach the final four of the League Cup for the first time since 2015/16 - where they were defeated finalists to Hamble Club. Ironically since that away-day drubbing at Locks Heath in October, Mark Glazier's side have been unbeaten on the road - including back-to-back victories at Sway and QK Southampton, while have also taken maximum points at Denmead, and look to set for an improved finish on their 21/22 campaign.

Entry for each tie is £5 adults, £3 concessions (seniors/ students/ U18's), with printed programme included with admission.
