RIVALS MEET IN TROPHY SEMI-FINAL

Feb 07, 2023

It's the semi-final draw many may have been hoping would grace this year's final, as Senior Division rivals, Colden Common face Clanfield in the last four of the Hampshire Trophy.

Fourth plays fifth at Oakwood Park on March 4 in what is set to be the biggest occasion for both sides so far this season, as they bid to face either Hartley Wintney U23's or run-away Thames Valley Premier Division leaders, Yateley United, in this season's showpiece final.

Lee Blakely's improving Clanfield side have gained momentum in recent weeks in the League, and reach this stage of the competition following an impressive 1-2 win at Bournemouth Sports on Saturday, coming from a goal behind at the Dorset Premier League side.

Connor Doswell and Nathan Morgan's Common meanwhile defeated fellow HPFL side, Denmead 3-1 to earn their spot in the semi-finals.

League champions, Common are set to come into the tie on the back of five consecutive away fixtures - including dates at all three sides immediately above them in Andover New Street Swifts, Stockbridge and Locks Heath. Clanfield also have a challenging run-in prior, also travelling to leaders Swifts, next on February 11 - before hosting second placed Stockbridge on February 25.

The sides have met once so far this season in the League - back in August (pictured) with Clanfield claiming the points by the odd goal in three at the Draper Tools Community Stadium.
