PAR002_123 • Aug 08, 2022

A full programme on the opening day in the Senior Division saw Locks Heath and Colden Common hit six on the road, while Overton and Denmead shared an eight-goal thriller...

Stockbridge (pictured) won 6-0 at Liss Athletic, with two for Chris Pye, and Locks Heath won 6-1 at Liphook United, two for Jake Smith.

Champions Colden Common were held to a goalless draw by new boys Andover New Street Swifts, and last year’s runners-up Denmead were held 4-4 at Front Lawn by Overton United, who ended third-bottom in 2021/22. Charlie Crook scored two of the Mead’s goals.

News of the other promoted teams - QK Southampton marked their return to the Senior Division with a creditable goalless draw at home to Clanfield, and Whitehill and Bordon were defeated 1-3 at Paulsgrove after leading at half time. For the Grove, the returning Shane Cornish bagged two of their goals.

Finally, Moneyfields Res, third last season, won 1-0 at Sway with a last-minute goal by Josh Bailey, and Hayling United achieved a similar result at Winchester Castle.

There's a bevy of midweek games in the top-tier on Tuesday and Wednesday - with Harvest taking their Senior Division bow at Paulsgrove - while Division One clubs start their campaign on Saturday (August 13).
