FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!

Aug 24, 2023

We start the Bank Holiday weekend on Friday with Senior Division under the lights at Front Lawn, as Hayling United - fresh from their first win last week - face unbeaten Sway (8pm), writes Paul Harris.

On Saturday there are five more games, with Locks Heath, also unbeaten, hosting Whitehill & Bordon at Bay House.

Colden Common, who finally got off the mark last week with a great win at Liss Athletic, are home to Harvest; Fleet Spurs play Paulsgrove, and Bishops Waltham Dynamos meet unbeaten Stockbridge at Mountbatten School. It's also a battle of the promoted sides as Infinity are at home to Hook, still looking for their first win of the season.

BANK HOLIDAY FIXTURES

More games on Bank Holiday Monday as three-wins-out-of-four Liphook United, have a local derby with Whitehill & Bordon.

Another fairly local game sees Paulsgrove at home to Moneyfields Reserves, who collected a useful three points at Denmead in midweek. Infinity against Harvest should be a good game, and Colden Common (v Hook), Stockbridge (v Hayling United) and Sway (v Bishops Waltham Dynamos) are all games where the home team are currently higher in the league and will be looking to pick up points, but will have to be at their best against dangerous opponents.

LEAGUE TABLES

Next Tuesday sees Fleet Spurs host Denmead, who with a fairly new team have made a good start to the season.

Division One sees nearly all teams in action too. The only team with two wins out of two, Whiteley Wanderers, do not have a game, so Meon Milton will be looking to overtake them with victory over Hedge End Rangers (who scored seven in their first game, but have since lost to Whiteley) at the Cockleshell; Meon Milton opening with an emphatic 12-0 victory.

Two teams who won their only game so far are both at home this Saturday, as Headley United host AFC Netley, and QK Southampton host Michelmersh & Timsbury, fresh from their first win in 18 months last time out.

The team M&T beat, Lyndhurst, face a difficult game at home to Hedge End Town. Upham play Broughton, who had that heavy defeat at Meon Milton in their first outing.

Twentyten and Overton United have to wait until Wednesday evening to meet on the 3G at Winklebury.
