COMMON STILL IN RACE/ L4 FINALISTS KNOWN

Paul Harris • Apr 25, 2022

On Saturday, the Senior Division again provided the drama at the top of the league, with all three matches having some significance.

The identity of the champions is still not yet known as Colden Common achieved a superb result, 3-0 at Locks Heath, who denied Moneyfields Res their chance of the title last week, but this week Locks were well beaten with three goals in the last 25 minutes.

Common now need at least four points from their last two games, away at Paulsgrove on Wednesday and away at Hayling on Saturday, to pip Denmead to the title. If they lose one of these, then a huge win in the other would also give them a chance.

The other unanswered question was decided this weekend: Fleetlands will be the League’s highest-place club who have passed the ground grading – a 2-1 win over Sway clinched that.

Stockbridge’s 4-1 win over Liphook United mean they finished sixth.

TABLES

In Division 1 South East, Meon Milton won 11-1 at second-bottom Clarendon to move into fifth place. Just the six for ace striker Connor Mansfield!

The L4 Challenge Cup saw two exciting semi-finals, both in North Hampshire.

In the first game, home side Hook got through to the final after a dramatic 5-4 win over Div 1 South East side Upham.

The second semi-final saw Division One South East runners-up Harvest record a superb 1-0 win at Division One North champions Andover New Street Swifts (pictured), thanks to a Remi Cake goal ten minutes from time.
