BRYAN CLARKE HONOURED

Jun 11, 2023

Bryan Clarke has received a Life Vice Presidency of the HPFL, following his decision to retire as our Vice Chairman.

It's not just the HPFL where Bryan has given valuable service over the years, as he also holds Life Vice Presidency as a Member of the Hampshire FA Council (25 years), Member Southampton Divisional Football Association (36 years), Member Southampton Football League (36 years), Vice Chair of the Southampton Football League (26 years), and Vice Chair of the HPFL for the last eight years.

Bryan's football journey started in 1962, when after leaving school, he joined British Rail in the Hampshire Premier League, before joining Fair Oak in the Eastleigh, Southampton Junior and Senior Leagues until 1970.

Pirelli General was where he moved into team management - including Pirelli Reserves in the Wessex League Division Three - and physio roles with the club. Subsequently he became Secretary, as Bryan's time playing came to an end.

It was during Bryan's time with Pirelli that he was elected to the Southampton Football Association and later, the Southampton Football League - both roles of which he continues today. Election to the Hampshire Football Council and Discipline Committees then followed.

A meeting in 2006 saw Bryan help with the formation of the Hampshire Premier League, and has been a committee member ever since, and have been Vice Chair since 2016.

It was perhaps fitting that Bryan should make the Senior Division title presentation at the end of the 2023/24 season - his last as Vice Chairman (see main photo) - prior to receiving an award of his own in recognition, at the recent League AGM.

Thank you for your your incredible service to both the Hampshire Premier League, and your commitment to local grassroots football, Bryan.
