WEEKEND PREVIEW - SEPT 24

Sep 22, 2022

Once again cup games come to the fore this weekend, mainly with our own League Cup, whose first round matches were all postponed a fortnight ago.

In the Hampshire Premier League Cup this weekend, we have some high-level clashes, and the chance of some upsets, as our Senior and Division One teams do battle.

The Senior Division top two from last season - both currently doing well this season, too - meet in potentially the tie of the day at Oakwood Park, where Colden Common take on Denmead. Other all-Senior Division ties include Hayling versus Sway and QK Southampton against Overton United.

Division One teams playing Senior Division teams at home, take place at Headley, where Whitehill and Bordon are the visitors in a massive local derby tie, and at Hook, where Andover New Street Swifts are the visitors.

All Division One ties include two teams near the top, AFC Netley versus Infinity, then we have AFC Petersfield playing Broughton, Hedge End at home to Michelmersh and Timsbury, and second-bottom Whiteley Wanderers entertain high-flyers Upham.

Not all HPFL Cup first round games will be played this weekend - look out for more in a couple of weeks.

There are three rearranged league games in the Senior Division: leaders Stockbridge entertain Moneyfields Reserves - who received a walkover in the cup after Chamberlayne withdrew from the league - and Harvest have an interesting home clash with an improving Liss Athletic side (pictured). Paulsgrove are also hosting Winchester Castle.

The Portsmouth Senior Cup also sees two games at the weekend, when Clanfield take on Liphook United in a tie reversed to be played at Liphook, and Meon Milton take on Locks Heath Reserves.
