WEEKEND PREVIEW - OCT 1

Sep 30, 2022

The spotlight falls this weekend on the first round of the ever-entertaining Hampshire Saturday Trophy, as our sides have the opportunity to play clubs from other local leagues.

Moneyfields Res are already through to the next round, as opponents Lymington Town Reserves have withdrawn - the second time Moneys have advanced in a cup competition without playing, after League Cup opponents Chamberlayne Athletic's recent resignation.

Locks Heath are at home to last season's winners, AFC Stoneham Reserves which is a local tie that on paper holds much promise.

UP COMING FIXTURES

HPFL teams playing Isle of Wight teams include Hayling United, at home to Shanklin - last season's beaten finalists - and Harvest, who host Northwood St.Johns at Front Lawn.

Meanwhile Southampton League opposition is provided for Winchester Castle (at Bishops Waltham), and Sway, who visit Compton. Hedge End Town have a home tie against Dynamo Dockside.

All-HPFL ties include QK Southampton v Infinity, Liphook United v Broughton, and Whiteley Wanderers v Lyndhurst.

CUP DRAWS

HPFL teams have also been drawn against various Wessex league (and other) reserve teams, these include Bournemouth Res v Twentyten, Colden Common (pictured) v Tadley Calleva Res, Eversley & California Res v Upham, Michelmersh & Timsbury v Sway Res, and Paulsgrove v Baffins Milton Res - who also met last week in the Portsmouth Senior Cup, Baffins winning 4-1 at The PMC Stadium.

Andover New Street Swifts host Ropley, while Overton are home to Sandhurst Social - both visiting sides of the Aldershot League.

The weekend's schedule also includes some important league fixtures. In the Senior Division, leaders Stockbridge host Clanfield, while a local derby ensues as Whitehill & Bordon face Liss Athletic. In Division One, Headley play Meon Milton, and Hook can move to the top of the table if they beat AFC Petersfield at home.
