WEEKEND PREVIEW - NOV 5

Nov 04, 2022

This weekend's fixtures are dominated by the second round of the Hampshire Senior Trophy - and potentially the weather, so please check if you are travelling.

The cup games see the usual mix of opposition from other leagues, reserve teams, and there are a couple of all-HPFL matchups too.

One of our teams already through is Andover New Street Swifts, whose opposition have already pulled out.

There are a couple of tough clashes for our teams, with good Isle of Wight opposition - Stockbridge are at home to Brading Town, semi-finalists last season, in arguably the tie of the round, and Infinity (pictured in yellow) travel to Whitecroft & Barton.

Wessex League reserve sides guesting at our clubs include Fareham Town Reserves at Hook, Baffins Milton Rovers Reserves at Liphook United, and the reserve side of Liss Athletic travel to Whitehill & Bordon in another kind of A3 derby.

Teams from our league who are playing Southampton League sides include AFC Netley, who entertain Braishfield; Clanfield, who travel to Comrades, and Headley United, who make the journey to Warsash Wasps.

Teams from our league play each other too - two Senior Division teams had better be careful as they are at home to good Division One sides, as Liss Athletic host Hedge End Town, and Winchester Castle host Twentyten at King George V, Winchester. Denmead also face a Division One side as they travel to West Meon to play AFC Petersfield.

CUP DRAWS

There is an all-Senior Division clash as Locks Heath, who beat holders AFC Stoneham in the previous round, at home to Sway. Meon Milton play Whiteley Wanderers in an all-Division One fixture that usually produces lots of goals.

In the league, the Senior Division sees midweek cup heroes Colden Common host Paulsgrove, as the Stallions bid to keep pressure on the leaders.

Harvest aim to get their campaign back on track as they are at home to Overton United, and a close game could be in prospect as bottom side Hayling United play QK Southampton.

Two games in Division One see Lyndhurst play Broughton, while Michelmersh & Timsbury play Upham. In both games the visiting sides will be looking for points to move further up the table.
