WEEKEND PREVIEW - FEB 4

Feb 03, 2023

With a promising forecast, we're looking forward to an action-packed weekend...

The Hampshire Senior Trophy has reached the quarter-final stage, and we have three teams left in it. Two of them play each other, and Colden Common versus Denmead should be a cracking match, with the tie moved to Sherfield English Playing Fields.

In the other quarter final involving our clubs, Clanfield have a difficult trip to Bournemouth Sports, but the Clan are in good form with two consecutive 7-0 wins under their belt.

FIXTURES - COMING UP

In the Senior Division, there is a massive game at the top as Stockbridge, who were knocked from second place by Common last weekend, host leaders Andover New Street Swifts.

Locks Heath are in fifth, but can catch up on the top three if they win at Sway, not an easy task. Lower down the table, Liss Athletic will be hoping to get back on track at home to bottom club Overton United, while QK Southampton travel to second-bottom Hayling United. The hosts will want to avoid being dragged into the relegation mix, as will Paulsgrove, who are at Whitehill and Bordon.

Moneyfields Reserves face Liphook United at the Draper Tools Community Stadium in another crucial battle of teams right above the bottom two. Finally, Winchester Castle will be looking for their third away win in a row as they travel to Harvest.

TABLES - AS THEY STAND

In Division One, leaders Infinity are scheduled to be in action at last, having not kicked a ball since mid-December - and face a visit to Whiteley Wanderers, who had a superb 6-0 win over Meon Milton last weekend.

Hook are four points behind in second, and have a home game against Broughton. Twentyten (pictured - in purple) play Headley United at Winklebury in an encounter between fourth and third.

Upham and Hedge End Town are just behind the top four with games in hand, and will hope to put pressure on the teams above them with games at home to AFC Petersfield and away at second-bottom Lyndhurst respectively.

Two more teams with games in hand on the top six are Meon Milton and AFC Netley, who meet at the Cockleshell.
