WEEKEND PREVIEW - AUG 12

Aug 11, 2023

One fixture that catches the eye in the Senior Division on Saturday, is early leaders Liss Athletic - who have had two emphatic 7-0 wins so far - at home to last season's Division One champions, Infinity, who beat Hayling 3-0 in midweek (photo) to make up for their opening day defeat against Stockbridge.

Champions, Colden Common have suffered two four-goal defeats, host Whitehill & Bordon, who have also lost their first two, and shipped seven in midweek at Liss.

COMING-UP - FIXTURES

Hayling United have also lost their first two, and visit Liphook United, who opened with a good win over Denmead in midweek. The Mead entertain Paulsgrove at Petersfield School - conquerors of Common last weekend.

Two fancied clubs, with a win apiece so far, meet at the Rec as Stockbridge play Harvest. Locks Heath won at Common in midweek to open their account and play Hook, two defeats in their first season at this level, at Bay House on Saturday.

Fleet Spurs also won their first game, and travel to Mountbatten School to play Bishops Waltham Dynamos, who conceded seven on their debut last weekend. Finally, Moneyfields Reserves play their first game when they travel to Sway, who won their first game at home to Whitehill & Bordon.

TABLES

Division One starts this weekend with four games; it's a welcome return for Hedge End Rangers, who entertain last season's bottom club, Michelmersh & Timsbury, in the opening game at Deer Park.

Two teams who will be hoping for better seasons this time round, having finished in the bottom five, meet at Coles Mead as Lyndhurst host Whiteley Wanderers. An interesting game sees Meon Milton, who missed promotion by a single point last season, play relegated Overton United, and two top half teams from last year meet at Ray's Farm as Upham play AFC Netley.
