WEEKEND PREVIEW - APRIL 8

Apr 06, 2023

Hopefully the worst of the weather is now behind us, with this Easter weekend full of important games, as we start to reach the business end of the season.

In the Senior Division on Saturday, second-placed Colden Common visit Paulsgrove - the Stallions first League outing since March 22 due to the weather and recent cup exploits, meaning they have games in hand on all their title rivals.

Andover New Street Swifts overtook both Common and Locks Heath to hit the top of the table on Wednesday, and travel to Winchester Castle. Locks Heath are also on the road, at Liss Athletic.

COMING-UP - FIXTURES (inc Easter Monday)

Clanfield - perhaps best placed to challenge Common on paper - play Moneyfields Reserves at West Leigh Park on Saturday evening (6.30pm k.o).

Sixth play fifth as Stockbridge try to get back on track as they entertain Harvest. At the other end of the table, the bottom three all have difficult away games, last-placed QK Southampton are at Denmead, second-bottom Overton United (pictured, in blue and white) visit Liphook, third-bottom Hayling United go to Sway - the New Forest side with a new manager, David Delves.

In Division One, leaders Infinity have a potentially tricky visit to AFC Netley. Second-placed Hook entertain Whiteley Wanderers (*fixture moved to Everest Community Academy). If Infinity do better than Hook, then Infinity will clinch the title. Otherwise the rescheduled Infinity versus Hook game on April 15 will carry greater significance.

TABLES

Hedge End Town, in third, can consolidate their position there if they win at home against Broughton, who have lost six league games in a row. They will be helped by their nearest challengers playing each other as Meon Milton host Upham at Cockleshell, in a match between fourth and fifth, while there's a battle of the bottom two as Michelmersh & Timsbury are at home to Lyndhurst.
