WEEKEND PREVIEW - APRIL 29

Apr 27, 2023

The Bank Holiday schedule sees Cup Finals Day at Winchester City (pictured) take centre stage on Saturday.

We start with a morning kick-off in the George Mason Memorial Shield (11am), where high-flying Senior Division Andover New Street Swifts will be favourites against Division One side Upham, but will have to be careful against a side who have beaten both promoted sides this season in Infinity and Hook, and come into the final with four wins from their last five.

This is then followed by the L4 Teamwear Hampshire Premier League Cup Final at 3pm, which promises to be a cracker between two Senior Division top-four sides. Current leaders, Colden Common have an excellent chance to become champions for the second successive season, but opponents Locks Heath - beaten finalists last year - saw off another title challenger in Clanfield last Saturday, which makes for an intriguing contest.

Admission is £5 for adults, £3 concessions, with a full-colour printed programme included. The bar and refreshment kiosk serving hot and cold food will be available throughout the day.

In the Senior Division, Clanfield have the chance to keep up the pressure on Colden Common - who are now five points clear at the top after their midweek win at Liphook - if they can win a tricky game at Denmead - themselves, winning during the week, 1-5 against Hayling United.

FIXTURES - COMING-UP

Hayling could overtake Liss Athletic if they beat them at home, with a victory for either giving them certainty from the drop. Fourth-bottom Moneyfields Reserves could also ensure safety if they beat Stockbridge, whose fortunes look to be turning, having won the last two after previously going eight without victory.

Winchester Castle entertain fifth-placed Harvest - the visitors coming out on the wrong end of a nine-goal thriller against Stockbridge last week.

Liphook United - who still have a chance of the top six despite losing their long unbeaten record to Common in midweek - are at home to Sway.

TABLES - HOW THEY STAND

In Division One, Whiteley Wanderers host AFC Netley at Meadowside in both side's penultimate games of the season. Netley need a point from their last two games to confirm sixth position.

Moving on to Bank Holiday Monday, and there's three Senior Division fixtures taking place (all 3pm). Clanfield host Hayling United at the Draper Tools Community Stadium; current leaders, Colden Common welcome Denmead to their temporary home at Mansel Park, and QK Southampton will be looking to make home advantage count at the bottom, with Whitehill & Bordon the visitors.
