WEEKEND PREVIEW - APRIL 15

Apr 13, 2023

After a wet week, let's hope the pitches have recovered in time for the weekend, as it is a crucial time of the season.

In the Senior Division, all eyes will be on Colden Common at their temporary home of Mansel Park, as they face nearest challengers, Clanfield (pictured), who are only two points behind The Stallions, having played a game more.

Common just came out on top 2-1 in the Hampshire Senior Trophy semi-final and another close, competitive game is expected.

The other teams in the top four, who have played several games more than Common and the Clan are also in action against teams currently out-of-form - Andover New Street Swifts, currently in second, travel to bottom side, QK Southampton, who are looking to end a run of sixteen successive league defeats.

COMING-UP - FIXTURES

Locks Heath, currently in second, travel to Stockbridge, who have lost their last six. Fifth-placed Denmead entertain fourth-bottom Moneyfields Reserves.

Sixth-placed Denmead travel to third-bottom Hayling United. Two teams in good recent form meet each other in mid-table as Liphook United play Winchester Castle, and Sway look to halt a run of three losses as they host Whitehill & Bordon.

TABLES

Division One reaches its climax with a massive clash at Sidlesham where the top two do battle as Infinity play Hook.

Infinity are already assured of a top two place but a draw here would give them the title as well. A win for Hook would confirm a top two place for them as well, and a good shot at the title too, as their last match is at bottom club Michelmersh & Timsbury.

Third placed Hedge End Town will be looking to keep the pressure on the two automatic spots as they visit bottom-side, Michelmersh & Timsbury; Meon Milton in fourth will seek to do likewise at Twentyten - whom Milton beat 7-1 at the Cockleshell last Saturday.

Upham will consolidate fifth with a win over second-bottom Lyndhurst, and AFC Netley have five games still to play, so they can push for a top-five finish with a win at Headley United. Whiteley Wanderers can overtake Broughton in ninth place if they beat them at *Oasis Academy 3G (*venue change).
