WEEKEND PREVIEW - 3 AUGUST
A new season begins on Saturday, with several changes, several ground moves - and several new teams to look forward to.
In the Senior Division, Andover Town join us from the Wessex League, and they begin their campaign with a home game against Paulsgrove. A team that have strengthened well in the close season is Colden Common - the Stallions begin with a home game against Moneyfields Reserves.
Liss Athletic also finished their last campaign well and host Locks Heath, who finished an excellent second last year, and start this season under new management.
Champions Liphook United (pictured, in blue) have a tricky first game, a trip to Harvest, now at the University of Portsmouth Langstone Sports Ground.
Whitehill & Bordon and Stockbridge both finished in the top half of the table last year, and they play each other on the 3G at Oakmoor School. The only promoted club playing on Saturday is Meon Milton, who host Hook, another team to improve in the second half of last season, at Cockleshell Gardens.
Finally, two teams who finished bottom five last season, who will doubtless be looking to improve this time around, face each other as Denmead entertain Sway.
In Division One, an intriguing matchup sees Hedge End Town, who eventually finished fourth after the 'distraction' of two cup wins last season, travel to the new KGV facility at Cosham to face new boys Mob Albion, who have done well in the Mid-Solent League for a little while and now make the step-up.
Another new arrival, Rushmoor Community from the Aldershot League, have a tough journey to Upham, who finished fifth last season.
Fellow newcomers, Crofton Saints were impressive in winning the Southampton League in 2023/24 - they travel to QK Southampton, who faded badly towards the end of last season and will be looking to improve this year.
There's also a re-entry in Silchester Village, with an attractive home game to start off with against Headley United.
Two teams with potential that finished mid-table last season meet at Station Road as AFC Netley play Overton United, while Twentyten face Broughton at Winklebury to round off our opening day.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, Colden Common host new boys Hedge End Rangers, last seen at this level seven years ago.
Liss Athletic have an early derby game as they host Whitehill & Bordon, while Andover Town entertain Bishops Waltham Dynamos, who came up last season, comfortably finished mid table, and won the League Cup.
Harvest play Denmead, and Moneyfields Res play Liphook United at the new John Jenkins Stadium.
Paulsgrove make their league debut on Wednesday at their new home, the KGV in Cosham, with an attractive game against Meon Milton. In Division One on Wednesday, Hayling United play Mob Albion at Front Lawn.
