WEEKEND PREVIEW - 18 MARCH
We have a fairly full set of league games this weekend, with some important encounters, and one of our teams is in a cup final.
Leaders Locks Heath need four points from four games to be sure of the Senior Division title, this weekend they travel to last-placed club Andover Town. The only team who can catch them, Crofton Saints, currently in fourth, have a home game against Stockbridge, who are battling to escape the bottom two. AFC Shirley's midweek win was their third in a row and it sees them now level on points with Crofton; they have a home game against Hook, who are only two points above them in third.
Teams just above the bottom two will be looking for points against teams in mid-table; Liphook United are at home to Moneyfields Res, and Meon Milton are at Denmead. Bishops Waltham Dynamos could rise to sixth with a win at Liss Athletic.
In Division One, the top two were in action in midweek, both winning, so AFC Netley lead Overton United by three points with three to play. This weekend, Netley are not in action so Overton have the chance to go back to the top again, as they have a superior goal difference. They face third-placed BTC Southampton at home; Overton won the reverse fixture 3-1 a couple of weeks ago.
If BTC slip up then Hedge End Town could overtake them with a home win against Sway. Silchester Village could go into fifth if they win at Headley United, who haven't won in five now. Nursling & Shirley also have eyes on a top five place and they host Hayling United.
An important game lower down the table as second-bottom Mob Albion, who won for the first time in a long time last Saturday, host third-bottom Twentyten, at the moment the visitors are five points ahead having played a game more.
Last, but certainly not least, we have a representative in the Aldershot Senior Cup final as Whitehill & Bordon play Abbey Rangers Development. Good luck to them.
