ROUND-UP - FEBRUARY 26

Paul Harris • Feb 27, 2022

On Saturday, we had the remaining League Cup quarter final, which saw Senior Division leaders Moneyfields Res win 4-2 at DivIsion One North side Hook.

Moneys Reserves now play Locks Heath in the semi-finals at Fareham on March 16 - a week after Moneys first team host Locks Heath in the semi-finals of the Portsmouth Senior Cup.

In the Senior Division, Denmead missed the chance to overtake Moneyfields Reserves at the top as they lost 2-1 at Fleetlands. Denmead are still level with Moneys at the top, but have played two games more and have an inferior goal difference.

That win took Fleetlands into fourth, as Stockbridge and third-placed Locks Heath (pictured) shared a rare goalless draw at Stockbridge Rec.

Colden Common are still very much in touch with the top five after a good 3-0 win at Sway. At the bottom, Lyndhurst lost 2-3 at Clanfield, Chamberlayne lost 0-1 at home to Paulsgrove, and Overton lost 1-3 at Liphook United, so no change to the bottom four.

But Winchester Castle pull further clear of these teams, continuing their improved form with a 4-2 home win over seventh-placed Hayling United.

In Division One North, just the one game again, with Whitehill and Bordon now moving into second with a 5-1 win at North Waltham. Headley United are two points behind them with a game in hand.

In Division One South East, QK Southampton had a 2-0 home win over Broughton to continue at the top. Second-placed Upham suffered their third defeat in a week, this time 1-5 at third-placed Harvest, and now look to be out of the title race.

Apart from Harvest, Whiteley Wanderers, who beat Meon Milton 2-1, still have a chance of overtaking QK, especially since they have to play them home and away in the next two weekends. It could be a good finish to the league! Finally, a mid-table clash saw AFC Petersfield beat Michelmersh and Timsbury 3-1.
