In the Senior Division all the top five clubs claimed victories on Saturday, with leaders Moneyfields Reserves still just out on top after a 4-2 win at Clanfield.

The Westleigh Park clash between the two sides had added spice with a number of Moneyfields players signing for Denmead earlier in the season.

Denmead still trail Moneys' on goal difference, but they reduced the gap with a 7-1 win over bottom side Lyndhurst.

Locks Heath had a 4-0 win at second-bottom Liss Athletic and they occupy third, while Fleetlands held on to fourth after a 5-0 home win over Chamberlayne Athletic, who are sliding down the league after their eighth successive defeat in all competitions.

Stockbridge are still close on the Coptermens’ heels in fifth after a good 2-0 win at Sway. Hayling United moved further ahead of Paulsgrove in seventh with a 2-1 home win, and near the bottom Winchester Castle gained an important 3-1 win at Overton United.

In Division 1 North,  only the one game, a mid-table battle as Hook lost 0-2 to Whitehill and Bordon. Our man on the spot said: ‘A good competitive game at Hook, where visitors W&B shaded the first half which saw very few clear-cut chances.

Hook had the better of the second period ,without testing Joe Choularton in the visitors’ goal, whereas home keeper Sam Lovelock made a couple of important saves. The game was won by W&B in the 78th minute when a cross from the right was tapped in from close range by unmarked substitute Ciaron Judd. The score line was completed in stoppage time when W & B were awarded a penalty which was calmly converted by leading scorer Ryan Davis. The drama was not complete as referee Astley showed a straight red card to Davis for over-exuberant celebrations.’

In Division 1 South East, the big match at the top lived up to expectations as leaders QK Southampton lost their one hundred percent league record with a 3-3 draw at home to third-place Harvest.

Whiteley Wanderers kept in touch with the top three, with games in hand, after a 3-2 home win over Michelmersh and Timsbury. With even more games in hand are Meon Milton, and they beat Broughton 5-0 at home. AFC Petersfield consolidated their fifth position with a 4-3 win at bottom club AFC Netley

There was one Cup game, in the Southampton Senior Cup, where Division One North's Upham caused an upset as they beat Senior Division side, Colden Common on penalties to progress into the last 16, after finishing all-square at 1-1 after ninety minutes.
